Under 21s maintain 100% record with win over Heanor
First half goals ensure another win for the Under 21s
The Under 21s travelled to Heanor Town looking to build on the previous weeks excellent performance against FBT International.
On a wet and unpleasant evening, they were missing Bullock through injury but included Clarke and Hunt in a strong squad.
Belper were quickly into their trademark quick passing game which was helped by the slick surface and large pitch.
Heanor were pushed back and looked to catch Belper on the break but the game was as good as over within the first 25 minutes as Belper scored three times.
The deadlock was broken when Garnett flicked in at the near post following a great run and cut back from Clarke.
Garnett also scored the second to take his tally to five in three games with a tremendous shot from 25 yards that was still rising when it hit the top corner.
Belper made it three with an equally fine goal from Knowles who skipped a couple of challenges before scoring with another fine long range effort into the bottom right corner.
Belper could have had more in this period with Taylor drawing excellent saves from the keeper but they seemed to take their foot off the pedal and lost their way a little for the following 20 minutes as Heanor had more possession without really threatening.
The second half saw Belper back to doing what they do well.
They had significantly more possession, creating numerous chances but an excellent performance by the Heanor keeper saw the score remain at 3-0.
It was another solid performance by the U21s who now top the league with three wins from three games.
The side looks nicely balanced with Knowles and Constable feeding the front three, Barnes screening the excellent back four/keeper and a very strong bench to call upon.
