It was Jonathan Williams from midfield who pushed the Belper side to victory with an impressive brace as well as having a big hand in his side's other goal too.

But after a first half where the Nailers created numerous chances without scoring; Palmer was left disappointed by the finishing from his forward line.

Palmer said; “I obviously had to say some harsh words at half time, I think what was said got into the players.

“It would have been a disaster after the first half if we had lost the game because I felt we created more chances and we were the more threatening team.

“I’ve said to my strikers that they need to start playing together and when they do they will start enjoying playing together and getting goals.

“At the end of the day; it’s a good clean sheet and it’s a good three points, but I’d get much more satisfaction if my forwards were scoring.”

Palmer also called for his side to stick together going into their next fixture with Lincoln United in midweek.

However, Palmer believes that his side will need to be much more lethal if they are going to get three points on Tuesday.

He said; “Against the better teams; we will have to take our chances. At the end of the day Rugby are down the table for a reason.

“We travel to Lincoln away; my forwards need to realise that they are a decent side and they will have to take their chances.

“We will stick together as a team; I pick the team so I obviously believe in those players and I know that the tide will turn.”

Palmer gave debuts to both Dylan Garnett and Jordon Richards after the two players joined on Friday.

The Belper manager praised the two players for their performances and hopes that playing time with his side will be good for them.

“They’ve both come on and they’ve done very well and I’m definitely pleased with them.

“They are footballers so they are going to want to play at every given opportunity; but there will be times where they need a bit more physique and steel and that’s why they are here.”

Palmer’s side will be happy to collect their first win this month and will be hoping to get back to back victories when they travel to Lincoln United.
