Tommy Taylor (pictured) has announced his resignation at Belper Town manager after just three months in charge of the Christchurch Meadow club.

In a brief statement Nailers Chairman, Vaughan Williams said, “I met with Tommy on Sunday and we both agreed that things hadn’t worked out as we expected during his time in charge.

“But Tommy is a quality person and I’ve no doubt that he will go on to stamp his personality and experience at another club.”

“Tommy felt that his lack of local knowledge of the Evo-Stik League had contributed towards the Nailers disappointing start to the season problem although he praised his assistant, Jon Froggatt in working hard to attract players to the club”.

Williams added, “I wish Tommy all the very in the future and thank him for his hard work and dedication whilst at the club and I’m truly sorry that his time here has not resulted in the success that we have all be working so hard to achieve”.

“It’s clear to everyone that we have not made the progress that we expected even though the season is in its infancy but we are already 11 points adrift from the front-runners and with Tommy deciding to step down, it does give us the opportunity to change direction and reverse our current fortunes.

The club hopes to make an announcement about a replacement for Taylor over the next few days.
