Belper Town
lost this fiercely contested game after conceding a goal in the 5th
minute of added time and would be disappointed at not getting a share of
the spoils.
The Nailers
met up with former manager Martin Rowe who took over at the Dovecote in
the close season, and Joe and Sam Carter with Jordan Lambert also lined
up against one of their previous clubs.
With Danny
Hudson unavailable Danny Toronzcak came in to play alongside Anthony
Wilson with Ross Hannah operating on the left and Mark Smith moving over
to the right.
It was hard
going for Belper who rarely had the opportunity to get the ball down and
play in the way they would wish, but credit due to Dynamo who fought like
tigers throughout the 90+ minutes.
The game was
littered with fouls and misplaced passes, and there were very few
opportunities in a largely unremarkable first period.
Robbie Banks
skinned Andy Rushbury in the 5th minute and blasted the ball wide
of the far post.
Ross Hannah’s
ball across the edge of the box found Mark Smith but he struck it well
wide of the target and this summed up the highlights of the first half.
The other key
incident of the half was the loss of Ross Hannah who looked to have
aggravated a hamstring and he left the field to be replaced by Krystof
Kotylo.
Thankfully
the second period offered more in the way of entertainment although there
were spells of negative play similar to that which plagued the first
half.
However James
Colliver had Belper’s first shot on target in the 47th minute
with a 30-yard effort that went straight to Bruce Carter.
Krystof
Kotylo had a shot from the edge of the area that went just wide two
minutes later, and Anthony Wilson slipped past two defenders and hit a
tremendous shot that was fisted away by the ‘keeper.
A good spell
from Belper was punctuated with a good shot from Jordan Lambert in the 61st
minute, but the Nailers deservedly took the lead in the 63rd.
Danny
Toronczak was totally unmarked when the ball emerged from a ruck of
players and he made no mistake from 15 yards.
Belper looked
to have had a reasonable penalty claim in the 66th minute when
Wilson was chopped down close to the by-line, and the same player was
unlucky to see his running volley whistle just past the upright after
being set up by Mark Smith.
But the
Nailers were caught out with 15 minutes to go when Tommy Leighton tucked
away an easy chance from a cross supplied from the right, and the game
slowly began to turn Dynamo’s way.
Substitute
Ade Adelukan livened things up for the home side and forced Ogden into a
good one handed save from a shot executed from just outside the penalty
area.
But as the
game looked to be petering out to a draw, which would have probably satisfied
both camps, Shepshed snatched a last gasp winner deep into added-on time
when Jordan Lambert nodded in a near post cross to hand Dynamo a much
needed three points.
