Supporters of Belper Town
Football club were invited to an evening of varied entertainment to round
off a successful season on the field, which saw the Nailers win the
Derbyshire Senior Cup for the first time in 28 years.
As well as a complimentary
drink and a delicious buffet, supporters were entertained by Tim Harrison
and Tom Carter’s humorous sideways view in pictures covering the last two
seasons.
A question and answer session with
joint managers Andy Carney and Danny Hudson also proved to be very
popular, as was Neil Laughlin’s Belper Town Quiz based on the Nailers’ 11
years as a UniBond club.
The prize of a signed match
ball was won by Joe Winson.
The evening concluded with the
drawing of the raffle with the three main prizes being won by Joe Winson
(signed season ticket), Jon Hobson (club coat) and June Robinson (club
merchandise).
A successful evening was
rounded off with a presentation of a cheque valued £1,500 to club financial
director Rex Barker with Tom Carter, Alan Rodgers, Ian Robinson and Hugh
Robinson also receiving thank you gifts.
Committee chairman Nigel
Oldrini said: “I was very pleased with the turnout and the event was well
supported by the club’s directors and committee”.
“The Operations Committee was
formed at the start of last season not only to ensure that the match day
organisation ran smoothly, but to try and form a link between supporters
and the Club’s Board of Directors.
“Hopefully we have gone some
way in achieving our objective, and this event was a culmination of those
efforts.
“I would like to thank
everyone who had an input to the evening and I hope that this will become
an annual event.”
