Andy Carney

Joint Manager/Goalkeeperr

Andy was initially appointed as caretaker joint manager in November 2006 and was subsequently given the position on a permanent basis for the 2007/08 season. In his non-league career, Andy has been a commanding goalkeeper and an excellent shot stopper, having given excellent service at Stocksbridge Park Steels, Wakefield & Emley, Frickley Athletic and Hednesford Town. Andy originally joined Belper Town in 2005 from Ossett Albion.

Danny Hudson

Joint Manager/Midfield

Also appointed joint caretaker manager in tandem with Andy Carney and is now part of the substantive management team. Danny has been an inspirational force in the Belper team since he originally signed for the Nailers in summer 2004 from Halifax Town. A former Rotherham United player, Danny made over 60 football league appearances for the Millers. He also had a short spell at Doncaster Rovers in 2002/03 before his move to Halifax in the summer of that year.

Adam Ogden

Goalkeeper

Adam has made a huge impact at the club since joining from Parkgate in December 2006. He is a very agile goalkeeper with excellent reactions and he commands the penalty area confidently. Originally signed as a junior for Sheffield Wednesday before his release from the Hillsborough club, Adam’s outstanding performances for the Nailers have drawn attention from a host of league and non-league clubs but his immediate future is very firmly set at Christchurch Meadow.

Paul Pettinger

Goalkeeper

Paul Pettinger (Goalkeeper). A much-travelled goalkeeper, Paul arrived at Christchurch Meadow in February 2008 from Frickley Athletic where he had made the briefest of spells following a move from Ilkeston Town. He started his career with Leeds United and then had short spells with Gillingham, Carlisle and Rotherham before joining Lincoln City in July 2001. Paul played around 30 times in the League and also had loan spells at Kettering Town, Telford United and Gainsborough Trinity before joining Kettering on a permanent basis in May 2003. Paul was transferred to Hucknall Town in February 2004 and then onto Harrogate Town in the summer of 2004 after helping Hucknall to win the UniBond League title. A further spell at Stalybridge Celtic followed in June 2005

 Gary Middleton

Defender

Gary is an experienced no-nonsense central defender who re-joined Belper Town in early December 2006 from Armthorpe Welfare. His recent career has seen him give excellent service for Ilkeston Town, Stocksbridge Park Steels in the UniBond League and more recently at Buxton where he helped them win promotion from the NCE League. Prior to that, he played at Christchurch Meadow in his early career before stepping up to Gainsborough Trinity and Matlock Town.

Jonathan Hobson

Defender

Jon is a solid central defender with great organisational ability who joined Belper in June 2005 from Sheffield FC. Jon started out as a trainee at Sheffield United before moving onto Maltby Miners Welfare. He also had the honour of captaining the now defunct Denaby United in their final ever game before making the switch to Sheffield FC. An impressive season for the Nailers last term attracted the attention of numerous clubs but he has stayed loyal to the club and is looking to improve again this season.

James Colliver

Defender

Born in Sheffield, James is a cultured full back who started his career as a trainee at Rotherham. He then turned out for Worksop Town and Glapwell before joining Stocksbridge Park Steels, where he spent three seasons and was voted Supporters’ Player of the Year last season. James moved on to Ilkeston Town in the recent close season before opting to join the Nailers in September 2007.

Joe Appleyard

Defender

A terrific prospect at only 19 years of age, Joe is an elegant and pacy defender who joined Belper Town from Stocksbridge Park Steels in the 2007 close season. Signed by former Steels boss, Peter Rinkcavage, Joe made a great late-season impact for Stocksbridge after returning from a loan spell at Staveley Miners Welfare. He decided to join the Nailers after former Nailers manager, Gary Marrow dropped him down the pecking order at Bracken Moor.

Scott Lowe

Defender

Scott joined Belper Town in October 2007 from Nottinghamshire neighbours, Worksop Town. He was a young professional with Sheffield Wednesday before moving into non-league with Stocksbridge Park Steels where consistent performances gained him a move to Conference North side Gainsborough Trinity. He linked up with his old Stocksbridge manager by joining Worksop in the 2007 season but opted for a move to the Nailers three months later.

 Ashley Barker

Defender

Another excellent prospect, Ashley played in the successful Belper Town Academy team where his consistent performances on the left side of defence soon set him apart from his colleagues. He has made the breakthrough into the Belper first team squad where, at only 17 years of age, Ashley has the time to become a very talented and sought after footballer.

Richard Haigh

Defender

Richard Hague (Defender). Richard is an accomplished and reliable left-sided defender who has made a huge impact at Christchurch Meadow following his move from Parkgate in February 2008. Whilst he is equally at home playing in central defence, he has made the left back position his own with a string of impressive performances that have delighted the Nailers supporters in his short stay at the club.

Michael Harcourt

Midfield

Completing the line-up of young emerging talent in Belper’s squad, 18-year-old Michael signed for the Nailers from neighbours, Alfreton Town in the summer of 2007. He was an influential member of the successful Alfreton Town Under 19’s team but found himself squeezed out of the Conference North club by the large influx of players brought in by new manager, Nicky Law. Michael has already shown up well in Belper’s pre-season programme.

Krystof Kotylo

Midfield

Krystof is a dynamic and hard tackling midfield player who arrived at Christchurch Meadow in December 2006 after a brief spell away from the non-league game. Initially, he was a regular reserve team player with Sheffield Wednesday before making a move to Nuneaton Borough. Subsequently, Krystof has seen service at Worksop Town, Gainsborough Trinity, Buxton and latterly at Ashton United. Won the Players’ ‘Player of the Year’ award last season.

Lee Stevenson

Midfield

Lee signed for Belper in November 2006 having been out of action for most of the season as he recovered from injury. Blessed with accurate passing ability he has an excellent pedigree, having previously played for King's Lynn for whom he signed from Sheffield Wednesday in March 2003 after occupying a regular place in the Owls reserve side. Lee is likely to be an excellent signing for the Nailers. Still only 23 years of age.

Anthony Wilson

Forward

20-year-old Anthony joined Belper Town in summer 2007 from Hallam FC. He is a lively, bustling forward with quick feet and with his undoubted strength. He is difficult to shake off the ball. Anthony still has plenty to learn at this level of the game but has all the attributes to carve a successful football career for himself.

Ross Hannah

Forward

Ross rejoined Belper Town in August 2007 after a 10-month spell at Gainsborough Trinity. He is a busy and skilful forward with a keen eye for goal, scoring 16 goals in 20 matches for the Nailers last season before Trinity tempted him with the prospect of Conference North football In October 2006. He had initially signed for the Nailers in March 2006 on loan from Stocksbridge Park Steels for whom he had joined in the summer of 2004. Ross has also had experience at Worksop Town, an earlier spell at Gainsborough, Sheffield Wednesday and Sheffield United.

Andy Rushbury

Forward

Andy joined the Nailers from Buxton in January 2005 after a very brief spell at Silverlands following an earlier move from Loughborough Dynamo. Prior to that, Andy joined Telford United in March 2004 from Chesterfield where he made around 25 Football League appearances. The son of former Spireites boss Dave Rushbury, Andy also had loan spells with both Matlock Town and Alfreton Town before joining Telford United. He can play in a variety of positions and excels in all of them.

 Richard Tracey

Forward

Richard is a well-travelled forward who joined Belper Town from Frickley Athletic in November 2007. He started his career at Sheffield United before moving on to make around 60 Football League appearances for the likes of Rotherham United, Carlisle United, Macclesfield Town and Scarborough before moving into the UniBond League with Bradford Park Avenue and Ossett before his previous move to Frickley Athletic in August 2004.

Peter Smith

Forward

Peter is a hard working and persistent striker who joined Belper in December 2006 from NCEL side, Shirebrook Town. Originally with Sheffield FC, he has represented the British Universities and then signed for Parkgate in the summer of 2002. He had a spell at UniBond Premier Division side, Marine, but returned to his native Sheffield area after his spell on Merseyside.

Ben Walker

Forward

A striker with great pace and an eye for goal, Ben moved back to Belper Town for his second spell at Christchurch Meadow in March 2008. He made the move to the Nailers from Ossett Town, bringing to an end a very brief stay at Ingfield. Prior to that, Ben enjoyed a very productive period at Stocksbridge Park Steels, where he was consistently amongst the scorers. Ben is an England Futsal (Indoor 5-a-side) International, who has also played for Maltby Main and Worksop Town.

Karl Ashton

Forward

Karl Ashton (Forward). 19 year-old Karl is a tall, quick and skilful striker who joined the Nailers on transfer deadline day in March 2008. His arrival at Christchurch Meadow followed his decision not to accept a one-year contract offer from Derby County. Karl enjoyed a successful early career for the Rams where his excellent performances won him England International caps at Under 17 and Under 18 Level. He also made a few appearances as an unused substitute at whilst at the Pride Park club.

Paul Bennett

Kit Manager

Paul is the Nailers kit man and also goes by the names of ‘Airfix’ for an obvious reason and ‘Pistol’ for another! Certainly knows his socks from his shorts and he is also an expert handler of the substitute boards. Paul is generally a reliable sort who sometimes even remembers to switch on the water boiler so the players can have a hot shower! Started wearing an Aston Villa shirt before the Martin O'Neill bandwagon started rolling.
