Belper Town Assistant Manager Lee Barrow gives his thoughts on Tuesdays's win over Stocksbridge and looks forward to Wednesday night

The Nailers travel to local rivals Heanor Town on Wednesday night with a place in the Derbyshire Senior Cup Final at stake.

“It is going to be fiery, it is a local game they always are. We know what we are expecting from them, they will be physical as I have seen them play a few times this season. But we can take confidence from the Stocksbridge win into the game.”

With yesterday’s game at Daventry being called off, assistant manager Barrow spoke about Tuesday’s victory over Stocksbridge Park Steels.

“The work rate was a lot better than against Rugby, we struggled with our formation against Rugby as their forwards caused us some problems. Against Stocksbridge we improved a lot, especially in the second half we worked hard and got the three points.”

“It was very frustrating, we wanted to play another game before we play Heanor on Wednesday. Daventry have been struggling recently so I felt we could have beaten them and got back on a little bit of a roll that we was on before the Rugby defeat.”

Midfielder Ben Watkis led the line for the Nailers and Barrow praised the stand-in forwards performance.

“Ben did well for us upfront, when we had him at Long Eaton he played up front in a cup final against Rocester and played really well so we thought we would give him a go.”

“He has been on the bench in the last weeks but I thought he played really well with his back to goal and when he was running in behind.”

Will Dennis is the latest recruit at The Marston’s Stadium, Barrow is excited about Dennis but reveals the Nailers are still in the market for a striker.

“He is going to an exciting player for Belper, he has played at this level before and he will help us out going forward.”

“We are just looking to bring another forward in at the minute, we have got everything else in all departments of the pitch. We have brought Kyle Bryant in who can play right-back or on the right-wing.”

“We also brought Louis Keenan in who is natural left-back, we have had a few right right-footers in that position this season so we just want to get a bit of shape to the team. Defending wise we need to work at it a bit, going forward we are one of the best teams in this league but we just need to stop conceding sloppy goals.”
