Evan Garnett, who has signed for Vanarama National side Kidderminster Harriers, says he cannot thank Nailers manager Charlie Palmer enough.

Garnett who was the Nailers top scorer this season with 18 goals said, “I have really enjoyed my time at Belper.

“When Charlie came in he really helped me take my game to another level, he let me play down the middle which was a big factor. Luckily the goals kept flowing so it has been good.

“I cannot thank him enough really, I have left on good terms and hopefully I can work with him in the future because he has helped me get my game to that next level.

“He has taught me what I need to do off of the ball and a lot of my goals have come from that.

Although Harriers are three divisions above the Nailers, but lie bottom of the league, 15 points from safety, Garnett says it was too good an opportunity to turn down.

“The chance to play full-time football was biggest thing for me.

“I have always said to Charlie the only reason I would leave Belper is to go to a team who are professional.
“I have always wanted to try and get back into full-time football at a higher level and Kidderminster was just too good an opportunity to miss.

“I had a chat with their manager and he let me go and train a couple of times this week.

“I get on with him well and I agree with what he was saying - like I said it is a great opportunity for me to play at a good level and hopefully I can go on and play even higher.

“I am only on a deal until the end of the season so we want to try and stay in this league.

“Hopefully I can keep scoring a few goals and see where that takes me and the club.

“He just told me to keep working hard and keep doing what I am doing at Belper, he also told me to go and enjoy it because it is a brilliant opportunity for me.”

Garnett, who is a Belper lad, thanked the Nailers fans for all their support during his time at his hometown club.

“Thanks to the fans for your support this season, I have really enjoyed my time at Belper.

“I wish the lads all the best for the rest of the season and thanks again to the club and the supporters.”
