Grant Black’s squad is once again strengthened as three players put pen to paper as we prepare to kick-off the new season.

Former Sheffield FC, Frickley Athletic, Ossett Albion & Ossett Town centre half Danny South has been bought in to reinforce an already strong defence. Most recently, South has been playing his trade with Athersley Recreation FC.

Speaking to Belper Town, gaffer Grant Black said, “Danny is a big strong centre half who can play up top if required”.

“We have worked with him before and he is a very experienced player at this level”.

“He’s very physical and head’s everything. He’s a proper old school defender who is dangerous in both boxes”.

After finally capturing his man, Black said “I’ve been trying most of the summer to get him. Now we have finally got it done he will be ready for the final pre-season fixture against Matlock Town and after that he will be ready to go for the upcoming season”.

After become a Nailer, South seemed equally excited when he said " I’ve joined as I know belper is a top well run club. Also, I’ve worked with Grant, Norbs and Keith so I was keen to work with them again".

When discussing his expectations for the upcoming season, South said " I know we will be challenging at the right end of the table and want to be involved in it, I can’t wait to get started".

Additionally, 21-year-old midfielder Piteu Crouz has been drafted into the squad. Crouz makes his way to the club on the back of a spell at Goole AFC. Crouz, who began his footballing career with Leeds United, has had spells at a range of different clubs including Tadcaster Albion, Ossett Albion and most recently Goole AFC.

Gaffer Grant sung the praises of Crouz when he said, “He is quick, lively, hungry and a very talented player”.

“If me (Grant Black) and Norbs (Mick Norbury) get out of him what he has talentwise the fans will have an exciting player and should get fans off their seats”.

After signing on the dotted line, Crouz said “I am looking forward to the start of the season and hopefully help the team achieve our target which is making the play-offs".

Lastly, the Nailers attacking threat has increased with the signing of Luke Francis. Francis began his career at Sheffield Wednesday before having spells at Sheffield FC and most recently NCEF outfit Harworth Colliery FC.

Upon the striker’s arrival, Grant Black said “He’s a strong, quick and a very clever player for someone so young as Luke”.

“He will be a great addition to us and another who can be a real handful for defenders at this level. He’s raring to go at Belper and we feel he is a real talent and can’t wait to work with him”.
