Ben is an attacking midfield player with an eye for goal who started his football career as a junior with Chesterfield FC and went on to win a short term professional contract with the Spireites. Whilst at Chesterfield he had a brief loan spell at Mickleover Sports and then signed for at Matlock Town on transfer deadline day in March 2012 following his release from full time football. After that, he signed for Long Eaton United where his combative midfield displays impressed manager Charlie Palmer who, on becoming Belper Town manager, recruited Ben to the Marston’s Stadium. Missed the early part of the 2016/17 season but re-signed for the club in September 2016.
