Belper Town’s juniors have returned from England duty helping Under 21s manager Stuart Pearce judge the nation’s top coaches.

The Nailers' U12s were at the FA’s National Football Centre at St George’s Park near Burton being coached under the watchful eyes of Team GB boss Pearce, Ray Wilkins and Eric Harrison as the trio assessed finalists in the FA Coach of the Year Awards.

Aspiring coaches from across the country were at St George’s Park and the club was delighted to be asked to help put them through their paces.

The club’s own head community coach Mark Alcock made the final assessments in 2011 after winning both the Derbyshire and Midlands Regional Coach of the Year awards.

He said: "Belper Town would like to thank the FA & McDonalds for inviting us to participate in the event. St Georges Park is an outstanding facility and we should be extremely proud of our new National Football Centre.

"The boys and parents were overwhelmed and really appreciated the experience. As a finalist in last year's Coach of the Year, I understood what the coaches were going through and thought they put on some great sessions for the players. Good luck to them all!"
