A global motorcycle brand has made it a hat-trick of seasons backing Belper Town FC.

Market leader FUCHS Silkolene, which sells its premium lubricants in more than 50 countries worldwide, has sponsored the Nailers for the 2019/20 campaign.

FUCHS Silkolene began its partnership during the 2017/18 season. The deal includes pitch-side advertising at the Raygar Stadium.

It’s a celebration of the past for the lubricant giant, which was founded in Belper in its original form more than 110 years ago before later being re-located to is current home of Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent.

Sally Travis, Marketing Manager at FUCHS Silkolene, said: “We’re delighted to extend our partnership with Belper Town FC.

“It’s an excellent club and we’re proud to acknowledge our links with the town by assisting through sponsorship.”

Dave Laughlin, Managing Director of Belper Town, said: “Funding is always a battle at non-league level, so we’re extremely grateful to FUCHS Silkolene for their continued support. There are not many level eight clubs which can boast a global brand amongst their sponsors, so it’s a real coup for us.”

Belper Town have had a strong start to the season and were unbeaten in August in the BetVictor Northern Premier League, South East Division.

Silkolene was the vision of the entrepreneurial Dalton family. Whilst William Dalton’s business started with agriculture in mind, his real inspiration led him to the supply of lubricants for the growing automobile market.

The early 20th century brought with it excitement as early cars and motorcycles became the centre of attention. Dalton’s business moved into lubricants as the internal combustion engine took over from horses for the transportation of goods and people.

The need for lubricants was the basis of an expanding business and, as race circuits such as Donington Park were developed, the Silkolene name quickly became synonymous with early racing and competition success, and it was to become the lubricant of choice for champions.

Acquired by German giant FUCHS in 1989, the Silkolene brand comprises a comprehensive range of high performance motorcycle oils and is used by leading professional race teams including in MotoGP, World Superbikes and British Superbikes.
