Ashley Hunter takes the ball around former Nailers defender Joe Carter and goalkeeper, James Baker, to score his first goal for the club.
Pre-match, some flowers were laid by the family of the late CMFL Referee Roger Evans, who sadly passed away towards the end of last season after blowing the final whistle on this ground. A very emotional moment for his wife, yet very fitting.
The game kicked off and The Nailers ran down the slope and had the very early exchanges, so it came as no surprise when they took the lead after just 9 minutes through Mark Ward.
They continued to dominate and showed their class apart from in front of goal, where they found Baker in the Normanton's net in fine form.
The second half kicked off and Belper were straight on the attack and on 49 minutes there was a mix up and the ball was in the back of the net to double their lead through a own goal.
Both sides threw subs on to give them a run out and some experience and in the 55th minute, Simon Harrison gave the visitors a three goal cushion.
A monsoon of 5 minutes, saw fans run to the stands, including 16 year old Ash Hunter’s parents who joined me behind the goal and with 75 minutes played, he entered the pitch with his mum worrying about broken legs!
She need not be worried as on 81 minutes, he brushed off a defender and took the ball round Baker before placing the ball into a empty net to make the final score 4-0 to the Nailers.
