The Nailers found themselves behind early in the first half; but an Alex Steadman strike secured his side a valuable point.
Josh Thornton put an excellent ball into the forward; Steadman brought the cross down before finishing well towards the keepers left.
The Nailers found themselves behind 20 minutes into the game; Jordan Cole lobbed the onrushing Scott Low to give his side lead.
Both sides had their chances in the first but the Nailers just couldn’t seem to find a clear cut one to ensure their lead.
The biggest chance of the first half for the Nailers fell to Steadman. The forward made an impressive run from the left wing into the six yard box before trying to curl an effort into the bottom left.
His effort was deflected wide off of a Newcastle Town defender but the referee remarkably signaled for a goal kick.
In the second half; the Nailers had to defend bravely in order to ensure they left Newcastle with something.
Although it was the outstanding performance from keeper Scott Low that would have caught the eye of fans.
Low made a number of reflex saves that looked to be certain goals for the home side.
The biggest of which came from a run on the right hand side; the Newcastle winger made it past the entire Belper defence before shooting from close range.
But Low was equal to everything they had to offer in the second half; pushing the effort out for a corner.
Praise must also go towards defender Gerome Palmer; he made a number of brave tackles that thwarted a number of the Newcastle attacks.
Palmer was also the first react with every rebound in the box; beating strikes to shots that had been parried almost every time.
The Nailers went into the game as clear underdogs; but with solid performances all around the field, Belper certainly earned their point against an extremely tough opposition.
