Phil re-signed for the Nailers in October 2014 from Grantham Town. He was the Nailers talisman in the promotion winning team last season, captaining the side and leading by example with some huge displays at the heart of the Belper defence in the successful campaign. Phil originally arrived at Christchurch Meadow in October 2013 after a brief spell with Coalville Town but disappointingly for Belper supporters, he opted to move back to one of his former clubs, Grantham Town at the start of the 2014/15 season. He started his career as a youth player at home town club, Rotherham United and had a spell at Lincoln City where he made a number of first team appearances before joining Corby Town in 2008 for a two-year stint. From Corby, he joined Grantham Town for the first time before moving on to Boston United in January 2013 prior to his brief stint with Coalville Town.
