Phil Watt made a timely interception just inside the Gingerbread's half and took a neat touch to set himself well before curling in a great cross towards the back post where Bruno Holden waited unmarked to steer his header down inside the near post.

Dan Haystead then made a terrific save after 23 minutes from another Holden header, plunging to his right to keep the ball out from close range.

Grantham got their equaliser after 25 minutes.

Alex Simmons curled in a driving free kick from the right which saw Martin dive to tip the ball away directly, only for Danny Meadows to pounce unmarked at the back post to volley home for the visitors.

Connor Johnson came close with a sublime effort just before half time, as the ball came out to him 25 yards out.

The Gingerbread’s midfielder showed great technique to smash a half volley towards goal which came crashing off the underside of the crossbar.

The Nailers then scored the all-important second goal in the 71st minute.

Glyn Cotton received the ball deep on the right and dropped his shoulder well to dummy the opposing defender before striding five yards forward and lashing a neat strike which went sailing into the far corner.

The Nailers wrapped the game up four minutes later as substitute Rob Stevenson worked the ball in from the right and cut the ball back to Ashley Burbeary, eight yards out, to smash home the final goal of the game.
