The Nailers suffered a bitter blow after a late penalty handed Stamford all three points at the Marston's Stadium, writes Joe Malone.

There were two more debuts for Belper as Danny Haystead started in goal and Paul Grimes lead the line alongside Jamie McGhee.

It was Belper who got the breakthrough goal after 27 minutes through Paul Grimes after a lovely sweeping move from right to left.

Ian Ross delivered a strong set piece towards the far post which was headed back in to the danger area from Michael Towey. Steve Warne then took the ball down with his back to goal, and laid it off to the edge of the box where Grimes pulled away from his marker to fire in a half volley in to the left hand side, beyond the reach of Andy Stevens.

Ten minutes later, Paul Grimes had a chance to double his debut tally from the penalty spot, after Towey was fouled by Ryan Clarke.

Grimes stepped up to strike but smashed the ball over the bar from twelve yards.

Stamford came out in the second half and moved up a gear, pegging Belper back for the first period after the restart.

The away side got their goal after 63 minutes through the dangerous Ryan Robbins.

Dan Lawlor worked himself space on the right hand side after beating Richard Adams for pace, before swinging in a cross along the six yard line, where Robbins arrived in front of his marker to bullet his header in to the right hand corner.

Three minutes later, Stamford turned the game on its head, courtesy of an own goal by Paul Lister.

Again, Robbins was heavily involved, and this time the number 11 drove in from the right hand side and played his in-swinging cross towards the back post, where Lister's glancing header steered the ball agonisingly into his own net.

The Nailers responded well and began pressing once more, and earned an equaliser through the redeeming Paul Lister.

Ian Ross stood over a free kick from 30 yards, and whipped the ball into the danger zone. Towey won the first header to keep the danger alive, where Lister was on hand at the left hand post to head the ball beyond the bodies, and make it anybodies game with fourteen minutes remaining.

Both sides created openings in the final phase of the game, but it was Stamford who earned a fortuitous penalty with two minutes of normal time remaining after a harshly adjudged handball by a Belper arm inside the box.

Ryan Robbins kept his cool, and smashed the ball into the centre of the goal, sending Haystead the wrong way, to give his side all the points after an entertaining game of football.
