New signing Tyrell Shannon-Lewis started for the Nailers following his move from Basford United in the week, other new signing Alex Steadman came off the bench to face his former club having only played for them last week.
A goal in either half for former Nailers front man Jordan Ball was only enough to taint a glossy performance from the Nailers. Ball opened the scoring after nine minutes finishing one-on-one with Danny Haystead after Ross Parker failed to cut out Jack Langston’s through ball.
It took until five minutes before half-time for the Nailers to equalise for, Ball had the chance to double the Moatmen’s lead, his effort beat Haystead but was cleared off the line by Phil Watt.
Rob Stevenson collected the ball from Watt’s clearance and drove forward down the right wing, he cut inside and smashed the ball home with his left foot to level the game up.
Yuyi Kabanje had to be replaced by Haydn Goddard at half-time due to losing his contact lenses towards the end of the second half.
The second half started with a flurry of goals, Evan Garnett scored the goal of the day chipping the ball over Ryan Swift in the Gresley goal after he had cut out Haystead’s huge box to box clearance.
The Moatmen immediately equalised as Jordan Ball got his and Gresley’s second of the game, tapping home after Haystead had parried a shot from Langston.
Belper found a higher gear and took the lead for a second time just before the hour mark, Jonathan Williams drove at the Gresley defence and was fouled 25-yards out from goal. He brilliant curled in the resulting free kick.
Centre-half Phil Watt got himself on the score sheet when he found himself free at the back post, volleying home another Williams’ set-piece.
Rob Stevenson completed the scoring ten minutes from time getting his second of the game, he climbed highest to head home Lee Cooksey’s left wing cross.
