The midfielder was influential in all three of his side's goals as he collected the man of the match award and got past a rather tricky Rugby side.
The opener came through the visitors putting the ball into their own net. Williams put in an excellent cross towards Ruben Wiggins-Thomas but Kyle Rowley beat him to the header.
Rowley’s header went towards his own goal before rather fortuitously nestling into the top right of the goal; Louis Connor in the Rugby goal stood no chance of preventing the goal as his side went 1-0 down.
This lead was quickly doubled as Williams put a superb free kick into the top left from 25 yards out.
The midfielder went to the keeper's near post as it fizzed into the net and doubled the lead for his side.
Williams put the final nail in the coffin with another rather fortunate strike.
His effort from distance took a deflection that wrong footed Rugby’s goalkeeper; he could only get the slightest of touches as the ball found the back of the net and piled more misery on the relegation battling side.
Despite the Nailers winning convincingly in the end; it looked as if it would be another afternoon where they would struggle to get a breakthrough early on.
Belper created numerous chances in the first half but could not take a single one; with Alex Steadman, Evan Garnett and Ruben Wiggins-Thomas all failing to put their side in the lead.
Rugby posed no real attacking threat throughout the game; however, they did have the ball in the back of the net early in the second half, but the linesman’s flag was instantly up as the player was offside.
One negative for the Nailers coming away from this fixture was that Phil Watt received his 10th yellow card of the season; meaning that the defender will be unavailable for the Nailers next two fixtures.
Jordon Richards is likely to take the place of Watt in the defence; the defender made his debut against Rugby after joining from Notts County till the end of the season.
Dylan Garnett also made his debut; coming on at half time to replace Alex Steadman. He played mostly on the wing and almost set up his brother Evan for a goal scoring opportunity.
The Nailers travel to face Lincoln United in what appears to be a tough midweek away fixture.
