Manager Peter Duffield selected an unchanged starting eleven as the Nailers played their first home game for almost a month.
Joaquin Ortuno was named on the bench after being left out of the last two games and was include at the expense of Luke Chambers who was unavailable.
Belper made a lively start to the game and came close to opening the scoring in the 9th minute when Andy Rushbury headed over an Alan O’Hare overhead kick.
Colin Marrison went on a solo run in the 13th minute and hit a speculative shot from the edge of the area but it was always rising and the ball went over the cross bar.
Goole won a free kick 2 yards outside the penalty area but Simon Harrison wasted it by curling the ball out of play at the near post.
Scott Ellis put over a good first time cross in the 23rd minute that was snatched off the head of Colin Marrison running in, but the Nailers were almost caught on the break 2 minutes later but Simon Harrison couldn’t hit the ball cleanly and it rolled gently to Andy Richmond.
It was developing into a very even game with chances at a premium but in the 26th minute Belper’s best opportunity so far arrived, when Andy Rushbury was able to nod the ball into space, and Scott Ellis hesitated before hitting a weak shot straight at the ‘keeper.
The Nailers were given an opportunity to create something in the last moments of the first half when they were awarded a free kick just outside the penalty area, and Jon Froggatt stepped up to curl a wonderful shot around the defensive wall and beyond Jevan Hodgson.
Vill Powell almost brought Goole level in the 47th minute when he headed just wide of the post, then moments later the Goole striker should have done better when he found himself through on goal but could only nudge to ball on to Richmond.
Steve Warne and Andy Rushbury combined soon afterwards and Warne troubled Hodgson with his shot to the near post and won a corner kick.
Powell looked to have had a good heading opportunity in the 51st minute but Glyn Cotton’s cross skated off the Goole striker’s head and harmlessly out of play.
Goole were having a little too much possession for Belper’s liking as the game hit the hour mark, and a second goal would have been very welcome.
Unfortunately it wasn’t going to come from the boot of Andy Rushbury (pictured) who blasted well wide of the target in the 68th minute, but he made amends on 71 minutes when he supplied the cross that eventually came out to Colin Marrison who hit a controlled shot from 15 yards to extend the Nailers’ lead.
As Belper went in search of a third goal Ben Spargo came on instead of Lee Morris and almost immediately Jon Froggatt sliced a half chance wide at the near post.
The Nailers ran the clock down comfortably enough to give new manager Peter Duffield his third consecutive victory in all competitions.
