There were two changes to the team that drew with Gresley with Jon Froggatt and Sam Duncum coming in ahead of Mark Ward and Gareth Davies.
Manager Peter Duffield fielded the same back five and successfully kept a clean sheet for the third consecutive game.
The first chances of the match came for the Seadogs, and one wonders how the lead wasn’t theirs after just six minutes when Peter Davidson blazed the ball two yards over the bar from six yards out in an unmarked position.
The second opportunity came for Ryan Blott after a corner from the right was taken by Bryan Hughes and headed goal bound by Blott, but Ratcliffe pushed the ball onto the bar and over for a corner.
But it was the Nailers who got the breakthrough after 14 minutes when Sam Duncum turned in a penalty save by Joseph Cracknall.
Glyn Cotton played a pass of the highest quality to Jon Froggatt on the right hand side, who had timed his run well to beat the linesman’s flag.
Froggatt then drove at The Seadogs back line and drilled a pass across the six yard box for Simon Harrison to burst through the first challenge, only to be tripped by Andrew Milne.
Jon Froggatt stepped up to take the penalty which was hit low to the goalkeepers right but matched by Cracknall, however his save fell to the feet of Sam Duncum to turn the ball home and give the Nailers the lead.
Duncum nearly added a second after his mazy run down the left wing was cut inside for a great curling effort towards the far post which Cracknall got fingertips to and turned it over the bar.
The 36th minute produced a tremendous save by Dave Ratcliffe after the dangerous Bryan Hughes struck a sweet free kick from 25 yards towards the top right corner, which Ratcliffe was equal to as he palmed the ball away to safety.
Simon Harrison then had a chance just before half time after cutting inside in the area onto his left foot and firing the ball on target which produced a point blank save by Cracknall.
The second half produced a second goal and a similar amount of chances for either side as the first half.
Bryan Hughes took a free kick from the left which was whipped in towards the six yard box but evaded everybody to bounce onto the post and Joe Conkleton reacted first to clear the ball to safety.
The Nailers then had three efforts on target blocked in quick succession as a Simon Harrison corner was headed by Shaun Roulston and stopped on the line.
Jon Froggatt struck the follow-up which was blocked for a second time and fell for Duncum to strike a third attempt which again was saved by the feet of the defender and cleared away to let Scarborough off the hook.
The second goal came for Belper three minutes into added time with an almost mirror image move which led to the first goal.
Philip Watt’s timely interception released Duncum who thread the ball through to the onside Jon Froggatt who began running the right hand channel.
This time, his ball across the box came for Glyn Cotton who was able to take a touch and place the ball into the top corner and see the job through.
