Simon Harrison was at the heart of it, Jon Froggatt was up and on the end of it, and Mark Ward continued his marvellous string of performances on the field as Belper Town scored six goals against a sorry Bedworth United.

Manager Peter Duffield kept his faith in the same eleven that beat Kidsgrove Athletic a week earlier, which is now proving to be a settled side with good football flowing freely.

The first goal came after just 9 minutes for the Nailers following a dominant start in their opponents half.

Chris Adam took a quick throw in on the left hand side up to Mark Ward, who turned well and produced a fine low cross for Jon Froggatt at the back post to volley home and keep up his remarkable goal scoring form.

Two more chances fell for the Nailers shortly after, with Simon Harrison snatching at a cutback from Sam Duncum for the ball to roll into the ‘keepers arms and Steve Warne shooting over from 20 yards after a brilliant footballing move which stemmed from Mark Ward flicking the ball into Warne’s path.

The second goal came on the 21st minute and was arguably the best goal of the game. It was delightful football which again saw the combination of Ward and Froggatt leaving their opponents with no answer.

Gareth Davies played the ball forward for Ward down the right hand channel. Ward then held the ball up well, spinning on a sixpence and produced an outrageous cross with the outside of his right foot which was weighted wonderfully for Jon Froggatt to bring the ball down in the area and fire the ball across the face of the goal and into the top right hand corner.

Bedworth shortly created their first good chance on the 29th minute.

Joel Grandison broke with the ball down the left hand side, doing well to beat Jones for pace before coming back onto his preferred right foot and played it onto Bradley Munn who was waiting on the edge of the area.

Munn then took a touch and curled a brilliant effort towards the top right hand corner which left Ratcliffe standing, only to crash against the frame of the goal.

The 35th minute produced the third goal for the Nailers and create clear daylight between the teams.

Davies chipped the ball up for Ward on the right hand side, who headed the ball on first time into the path of Simon Harrison who struck the ball on the half volley first time into the bottom left hand corner leaving debutant goalkeeper Llobell Allazar with little chance to save.

The first 15 minutes of the second half was equally as good as the first with three more goals for the Nailers.

The first came just three minutes into the half and was yet another landmark moment for Nailers frontman Jon Froggatt who raced in for his hat-trick.

Belper were forcing Bedworth back with a corner and two crosses, the latter from Harrison from the right was curled in for the unmarked Jon Froggatt whose powerful header was drilled beyond the reach of the ‘keeper and firmly put the game out of Bedworth’s reach.

But the Nailers didn’t rest on their laurels as it took just sixty seconds to make it five.

This time, Jon Froggatt received the ball to the right of the area andplayed Chris Jones through on the overlap. Jones fizzed the ball across goal and Mark Ward slid the ball home at the second attempt, after the first had come back off the post.

The crowd were chanting ‘we want six’ and they were not to be disappointed with the goal coming after 61 minutes.

Gareth Davies played a defence splitting pass through to Jon Froggatt to the right, who took the ball into the penalty area and sending a searing shot into the top left hand corner.

The game was then interrupted following a clash of heads between Luke Beatson and Chris Jones as both had to leave the field to receive treatment.

With the Nailers temporarily down to nine men, substitute Tristram Whitman stole in at the back right post to volley the ball in from a cross and give the Bedworth fans a small consolation to cheer.

The visitors got a second on the 95th minute when David Blenkinsopp was played through well and poked the ball past Ratcliffe from close range.

But at the final whistle, it was full marks to the Nailers who make it four consecutive victories in all competitions.
