After a fortnight’s break from competitive action, manager Peter Duffield fielded the same side that won away at Halesowen last time round.

The first chance of the game came for Dynamo after 8 minutes when Nathan Watson collected the ball 40 yards from goal.

The Dynamo midfielder made an audacious attempt to catch Scott Low off his line which almost paid off, only for the top of the crossbar denying what could have been a terrific opening.

The second chance for Dynamo came a minute later as the dangerous Jarrod Westcarr received the ball inside the area, turning Phil Watt and getting his shot away which was saved well by Low.

However, with their first attempt of the afternoon, the Nailers took the lead after just ten minutes. A good move involving Steve Warne and Colin Marrison ended in the latter going through down the left hand side.

Marrison then took the ball to the by-line and cut back the low cross where Kieran Wells was on hand eight yards out to fire past goalkeeper Alex Pycock, who got a hand to the ball but couldn’t prevent it crossing the line..

Marrison and Wells combined once again in the 26th minute, when Marrison’s cross from the left was chested by Wells, who turned and volleyed goal bound, however Jake Betts was able to put in a brave block some four yards out.

Dynamo then had a couple of good opportunities shortly after to level the score, the first coming for Westcarr on the 30th minute.

Watson turned goal side on the left hand side and slotted the ball through to Westcarr who fired in a cross-come-shot which was deflected goalward by Dan White but Low just managed to get his fingers to the ball to turn it away for a corner.

Wells then had a golden opportunity five minutes before the break after Jon Froggatt had hooked the ball over for his fellow front man to drive forward but with two unmarked men in the box, his attempt was cut out by Pycock who got down well to smother.

The Nailers started the second half in aggressive fashion, earning themselves a fine goal to double their lead.

Firstly, Aaron Cole beat his marker before cutting in and firing in the shot towards the far post which went inches wide with the keeper beaten.

Then, on the 49th minute the Nailers got their reward. Cole again proved a menace down the right hand side and his left footed cross was aimed perfectly for the head of Jon Froggatt who glanced his header into the far left corner and notched his 28th goal of the season in the process.

Loughborough made sure there was battle until the final whistle after being awarded a dubious free kick just outside the area after following what appeared to be a dive by the Dynamo player.

Rob Norris spotted the ball twenty yards from goal, left of centre, and drilled in his dead ball with precision into the bottom right corner to half the Nailers lead on the 77th minute.

There were late chances for both sides with Cole, Warne and Marrison all coming close for Belper, whilst Luke Smithson spurned a great opportunity to earn Dynamo a point in the third minute of stoppage time but hit a tame shot straight at Low.
