The Nailers recorded an eighth successive victory away to Sheffield FC on Easter Monday, scoring three more goals on route to glory, writes Joe Malone.

With only a single league game remaining this current season until the play-offs, the Nailers were very much in pre-play-off preparation mode against Sheffield, with manager Peter Duffield picking a strong starting eleven to ensure the momentum stays with the Nailers.

A more familiar looking starting line-up was on show for the Easter showdown, with Scott Low, Dan White, James Cullingworth, Steve Warne and Gareth Davies all returning to the side.

The first half was played at a rather slow tempo, with neither goalkeeper seriously troubled, but the game was by no means short of passion.

The most notable moment in the opening 45 minutes was a blistering first time strike from range by Aaron Cole which crashed against the cross bar and leaving the posts shaking.

The second half saw the major action in the game, with four goals on show.

Jon Froggatt opened the scoring with his 39th goal of the season within three minutes of the restart. James Cullingworth delivered a cross from the left hand side which was struck onto the crossbar by Kieran Wells and Froggatt followed up to half volley the ball in from close range.

The Nailers then got into their impressive stride and began testing the defenders from all angles.

Substitute Mark Ward came off the beach to score for a second game running for the Nailers after 71 minutes.

A Colin Marrison cross from the left was brought down neatly by Ward at the near post before firing in to the back of the net beyond the reach of Rob Poulter.

Sheffield put up a commendable fight for a short period and were rewarded in the 78th minute after an uncharacteristic poor headed clearance from Phil Watt fell to substitute Vill Powell who struck an audacious 30-yard volley over Scott Low.

However, any fears were put to bed near the end when the industrious Kieran Wells poked in a half volley from close range to ensure another three points were added to the tally.

Sheffield FC: Rob Poulter, Connor Shirley, Ben Algar, Max Pemberton, Jamie Hadfield (Steve Woolley, 58), Tim Whittaker, Matt Roney (Vill Powell 62), Andrew Gascoigne, Mark Fereday (James Gregory 70), Joel Purkiss, Richard Stirrup.
