Building on from the wave of signings within the past week, Grant Black’s squad is further strengthened by the signings of Marcus Day and Cameron Clark.

The first of the duo to confirm their status as a Belper Town player was striker Marcus Day.

Described by Black as “Quick, strong and a good finisher”, The 21-year-old striker joins from the National League side Harrogate Town.

Day began his career with loan spells at Wetherby Athletic and Harrogate Railway before being given the opportunity within the Harrogate Town first team in the 2016/17 season. Additionally, Day has gained experience at Alfreton Town and Ossett Town respectively.

Black struggled to contain his excitement over the new signing as he said “We are over the moon to get him (Marcus Day). He has been in and around the conference north at Harrogate and we had him on loan when we got into the play offs at Ossett Town and did great”.

“He’s a great lad who will fit into the kind of dressing room we will create, and we can’t wait to get working with Marcus again”.

On Thursday afternoon it was Cameron Clark’s turn to confirm his status as a Nailer. Clark is a left back by trade who last season played for Athersley Rec in the Northern Counties East Football League.

Despite having no experience at this level of football, Grant spoke highly on the left back when he said “I have been an admirer of him for a while now and I am confident he will make the step up comfortably. A few teams have approached him to do so, so we are happy he has chosen Belper and is another player we feel will help us achieve what we are looking to do”.

In other news, on Tuesday 10th July, supporters will have the opportunity to meet Grant Black, Mick Norbury, his management team and some of the new signings during a supporter’s forum. The forum will commence at 8:30PM in the Nailers function room and it will be a Q&A style of event. Everyone is welcome to come along.
