Belper took the lead early in the game when captain H headed home from a corner, ensuring she got a free pint of Scott!!
Throughout a competitive first half both teams created chances but it the final minutes of the half Buxton equalized when Belper players fell asleep at a corner and left the Buxton players to blast the ball home.
Belper went out in the second half with the half time team talk ringing in their ears, ready to take the game to Buxton, but Buxton were also up for the second half. A good performance from both defences made it a hard half for the attackers.
Belper looked to have got their noses back in front when Rosanne forced the ball home with her ‘hip’ only for the goal to be ruled out with a dubious Handball decision. (Was it handball Rosanne?)
Unfortunately it was Buxton who chalked up a second, when it looked like the defence had forced the ball clear and a Buxton player hit a speculative shot goal-wards which flew into the top corner, on another day this shot could of gone anywhere!!
Belper battled to the end, and could not get the second goal which would have been rightly deserved, a good team performance which can be taken in to next week’s game.
Dame of the Game – Olivia Pell for her solid performance at the back and her graceful leaping over the ball skills
Goal Scorer – H
Wooden Spoon Moment – Amazingly their wasn’t one today!!
