An early goal was only highlight in disapointing cup exit

Within ten minutes of kick off, Belper maintained possession in Wirksworth half getting an early corner taken by Jemma Wheatley.
Belper attacked the ball that fell to Helen Tunicliffe who put the ball in the Wirksworth net for a well deserved lead.
Belper after kick off held firm with the defence of Emma Newton, Emma Pickard , Olivia Pell and Helen Colwill stopping any penetration by the Wirkworth attackers.
However some good link up play by Wirksworth kept the pressure on Belper resulting in mistakes that ended up in an equaliser. Not long after further pressure compounded the game in Wirksworths favour resulting in a shot on goal unfortunately deflected in leaving Belpers goalkeeper Emma Varnam no chance.
Belper tried to regroup with midfield of Kelly Turner and Alice Liggit trying to play through balls to Rachel Evans and Leah Parkin on the wings. Wirksworth consolidated their position and regained control of midfield resulting in a corner from which an unmarked Wirkworth attacker made the lead three one.
In the second half Belper tried to keep possession by playing a short passing game with Helen Tunnicliffe battling for every ball up front.
Belper bought Sue Thornhill into the game that made an impact with some solid pressure in midfield. As Wirksworth made timely substitutions and the state of the pitch became worse Belper were kept in the game with some timely strong defending from Helen Colwill and a good solid performance from goalkeeper Emma Varnam.
The pressure was maintained till the end by Wirksworth who got a final goal before full time.
