After two weeks of inactivity following back to back Cup defeats, Belper Town Ladies returned to winnings ways with a dominant display at the Leisure Centre.

Manager Dom Anderson handed a debut to Hollie Thompson, her first match in senior women's football, on the left wing while Mia Carnelley made her second appearance on the right wing after her debut was cut short by injury. Both would score in an entertaining match.

In fact, Carnelley took only a matter of seconds to open the scoring when she was played in by Jess Needham and produced a calm finish to open her Nailers account.

However the lead was short-lived, in the 5th minute Bakewell were level when a defensive slip allowed Hannah Bent to run through and slot home to level the scores.

Within two minutes Belper were back ahead when a throw-in reached Thompson - her finish from outside the box was laser accurate and a fine debut goal for the 16 year old.

The frantic start continued a minute later when Alice Faulding had a shot well saved and from the corner her header was just over the bar.

On 17 minutes came the goal of the game, and a contender for goal of the season. Sammy Bennett, superb all afternoon, picked up the ball halfway inside the Bakewell half and weaved through several defenders before unleashing an unstoppable shot from 20 yards. A fantastic individual goal to double the Nailers' lead.

Belper couldn't create any clear daylight though and were pegged back again in the 23rd minute. A foul in the penalty area on Jessica Amis gave Emma Potter the chance to score from the spot and she gave Emma Varnam no chance.

Belper dominated the rest of the half and in the 38th minute, when the visitors couldn't clear a corner Shannon Worrall had a shot blocked that looked to be travelling towards goal.

The final action of the first half saw Worrall take a short free-kick to Thompson but her shot from range was saved.

Bakewell enjoyed the better of things early in the second half and Belper's best chance was a shot from Thompson from a tight angle which crashed back off the post, with the offside flag being raised in any case.

Just after the hour mark, a long free kick from Worrall found Anna Macluskey, she rounded the 'keeper but the angle was too tight for her and the shot hit the post.

Belper extended their lead back to two goals again in the 64th minute when Hannah Dutton's ball down the right found Faulding. The Nailers' top scorer ran on and shot, the save from which fell kindly to Macluskey who tapped in her third goal of the season.

The game was killed off a minute later when Faulding picked up her second assist in the blink of an eye - her ball from the right found Hannah Dutton who smashed the ball home to complete at least the Belper part of the scoring at 5-2.

There was still time for a consolation goal for Bakewell when Alice Broome netted from close range following a corner.

The final action, 16 minutes from time saw a long range effort from Needham sting the palms of the 'keeper.

The Nailers played out the match comfortably from that point to secure three points which sees them 6th in the Derbyshire Girls and Ladies League Division One, with two games in hand on 4th placed Amber Valley Ladies and leaders Draycott Victoria.

Belper Town: Varnam, Pickard, Powles, Layton, Cowen, Bennett, Needham, Buxton, Carnelley, Faulding, Thompson.
Subs: Dutton, Frostick, Macluskey, Worrall, Whysall.

Referee: Barry Aldridge
