Pride Park Ladies (H) - Sunday, 4th February 2024

The Opposition
Pride are in the middle of what looks like a three-horse race for the Derbyshire Girls and Ladies League Division One title. Sandwiched between Draycott Victoria and Wirksworth Colts, they are three points off the top with two games in hand, but Wirksworth Colts are lurking four points further back with two games in hand of their own.
The season started with a disappointing defeat in the Cup against Nuneaton Borough but they won five out of the first six league fixtures, including a run of three games where they scored 32 goals without reply.
Three postponements ruined the momentum slightly and when they restarted in mid-November they suffered defeats in both League and Cup.
They bounced back with an emphatic win at Bakewell Town before two further matches were called off.
Following a walkover in another Cup match over Stanton Ilkeston, they returned to the Moorways Stadium on the 14th of January and opened 2024 with a crazy 10-6 win over the Nailers.
Since then they have picked up wins over Sandiacre Town (who had knocked Belper out in the previous round of the Plate) and last time out they picked up a hard fought win over Wirksworth in a top of the table clash.
Sunday marks the start of eight successive away matches and they don't return to Moorways until the 14th of April.

Pride Park, despite being a relatively new club boast a player with 200 appearances (Tash Allderidge) and over 100 goals (Maja Znamirowska).

The Nailers
Belper ended a poor run of form two weeks ago with victory over Draycott Victoria. Before that they had suffered defeats to Sandiacre in the Plate and Ashbourne in the League followed by the crazy 10-6 at Moorways.
It was back down to earth somewhat last weekend, settling for a point at home to Amber Valley thanks to India Amans' late leveller.
This is third of four successive home matches for the Nailers, following which they travel to leaders Draycott Victoria.

Head to Head

Games between Pride Park and Belper have always featured plenty of goals in the past - in 18 League and Cup fixtures between the teams since 2014 there have been over 100 goals scored at an average of over six goals per game - and none have ever ended goalless.

Last time out it was the Beth Jones show - she scored four of the hosts' ten goals although the Nailers managed six in reply including a hattrick for our own Alice Faulding on what was a questionable playing surface.

Permutations
There are four games in the DGLL Division One on Sunday and the visitors will be taking a keen interest in events at Derwent Meadows where 4th placed Amber Valley welcome the leaders Draycott Victoria.
If Pride Park and Amber Valley win, the Moorways side will go top of the table.
For the Nailers they can only climb a place if they win comfortably and Amber Valley are defeated. Dom Anderson's side are currently 5th and have both Buxton and Borrowash breathing down their neck. Both are in action on Sunday.
