CN: Lee, slipped to a 4-2 defeat tonight at home after such a positive result on Saturday, what was your message to the lads in the dressing room just now?

LA: Difficult game to analyse because it's so hard to sit here and say we played all right when we lost 4-2. Loads of good stuff in there, loads of good quality to the box, just really naive defensive moments in the first half. First of all, I think we have to credit Sutton, they're a good team, they're lively on the break.

When we got their team sheet, we said they picked a team to play in transition and to hit us on the break. The message before the game was to stop their number 10, he makes everything tick. If he gets in the pocket, he can spread the game open really well, shifts it both ways to the wingers.

Both wingers are sharp and direct. Like I say we dominated the ball but there was always that threat in the first half, we were vulnerable. I think that's our fifth or sixth game of the season and it's the first one we've been poor.

We played well in every game regardless of the results we played well. That first forty-five we were a yard off it. Their two sitting midfielders sit really deep.

Our two sitters didn't really know whether to go and try and get out some or sit in on the ten. Part of that's on me as well because after 25 minutes I wanted to go man for man in there, but we tried to get the instruction on, but we obviously didn't get it on well enough.

Then at half time we've tweaked it, we've gone man for man.

Just left one sitter in there and wanted to really attack the game. Second half, whether it's because we were really good or they were happy to sit in but there was only one team obviously pushing. We had all the ball, all the territory.

I think it was at that 3-1 point where we were slinging loads of balls into the box, and you need a bit of luck as well. Nothing seemed to drop for us in there. We've had two or three shave the post.

Keeper’s made a few good saves, we've just knocked up chances again. Draper's knocked two or three down and we've not gone and got on the bits. That's when we needed to score to get it to 3-2.

I think if that happens, different game, we can throw the kitchen sink, last 15 minutes. Then obviously out of nowhere one long straight ball down the middle and he's finished it pretty much down the middle and we shouldn't let that goal in either. We're disappointed because all the goals were avoidable.

The third one's a worldie, he struck it so well and behind it and it's dipped a mile. But I think our biggest disappointment is we should have been 2-0 up. We've had a chance in the second or third minute where we're just a bit scruffy in our play.

We get it through to Draper but it's a bit slow, it's a bit laboured and we don't take the chance. I think we've slung in, I've not looked at the stats, but I think it was twelve corners. Didn't make enough first contacts.

First of all, credit them as well, their two centre-halves handled Draper really well. I thought they were combative. Sutton did the same to us here last year.

They just threw the bodies in front of everything, same again today. Again, a difficult team to talk to the lads at the end because we've certainly played a lot worse than that in some
games in the past. Everybody's put a shift in.

There's no questioning attitudes and stuff. We were just caught in between in that first half, and the uphill battle was too much.

CN: On to Wellingborough on Saturday, FA Trophy, a bit of a break from the league.

LA: Is it just a case of getting a reaction from the lads? Again, is it a reaction? Were we that bad tonight? I don't know. Were they really good or did they just hit us in moments? I feel like it's probably the latter. If I was coming away thinking we've been bossed and we've lost every duel across the park, which to be fair, we probably did in the first 40 minutes.

But second half, they probably got a reaction. It just didn't fall for us in the box, did it? But Saturday, FA Trophy, probably do without it now because obviously you want to try and respond in the league first and foremost. But it's a game where we go to Wellingborough.

I think they've started, they've won every game I think so far. I don't know if they've played tonight, but we can do a five from five and play tomorrow. Handy side, really good side, we know that.

And they've added quality over the summer too. It's a difficult game. Then obviously we've got a game two days later, so we've got to try and manage minutes in the squad.

Reaction is a difficult one because I don't think we've not given a reaction today. But like always, goals change games. And just as we were well in the ascendancy in the first half at 1-1, when we scored a really good goal to get to 1-1, just as we're turning the screw, they hit us for 2-1.

They've scored at good times. Worldie for 3-1, we respond again with a good second half and then they hit us with one on the break. So, yes, it's a tough one to swallow that because we weren't that bad.

We've certainly played worse, but I think most credit has to go to them because they were sharp in transition and they used the ball well. And especially at the back, they threw everything in front of what we had. So, well done Sutton.

Good win for them. But, yes, I don't think we were that bad tonight, but it is what it is.
