Grant Black has hailed the club’s new 4G training pitch as a massive asset to Belper Town, writes Kurt Bigg (Derbyshire Times)

“I think it is absolutely immense,” said Black. “The photos on the internet don’t do it justice when you are actually here and for a club at this level to implement this is massive.

“It’s been talked about for a lot of years at Belper and to get it done is a credit to the chairman and a credit to everyone behind the scenes.

“Long term it will be a massive asset to the club. In the summer we got contacted by various clubs and we decided to stay with Belper based on this kind of thing and the plan that they have got.”

Chairman Ian Woodward said it would now ensure the club had a regular income stream.

“This is now for the next ten years, a steady income stream,” he said. We do want to go further and to go further, we need bigger ideas and different revenue streams, and this is one of them.

“When it’s in the planning stage, these things take years. But once the diggers broke ground, we just wanted to get it up and running.

“It’s fantastic for the club. We’ve got training facilities here; we’ve got the pitch facilities and the function facilities.”

Despite struggling in the 2020, the Nailers have several plans to improve their facilities, which include the construction of a new stand at the Church end of the stadium.

The club hope that they can break ground on that project in January.
