Charlie Palmer is exciting about the future at Belper Town but is expecting a challenge which he is relishing.
“It is a well-established club but it is still going to be a challenge, I am really looking forward to it and I will enjoy the challenge. There is some very good football players at this football club but I set very high standards and I want them to be fit, organised and disciplined.”
The ex-Derby County man realises it is not going to be all plain sailing despite two victories in the last two weeks.
“Initially I want some stability but then after Christmas we want to see how far we can push up the table, we are not going to get carried away with Saturday’s performance we are going to take every game as it comes. All I am focused on now is getting three points against Loughborough on Tuesday night.”
As a former defender, Palmer was impressed with his side’s ability to keep a clean sheet for the second game in a row.
“You live and die on keeping clean sheets in football, it is your bread and butter. For saying a new manager has come in and not even had a training session with these players, they can go out and enjoy their weekend knowing they have put a good performance in.”
When a new manager is appointed you can always expect a big turnover in the playing staff, especially at this level of football.
“There will be ins and outs because I have got an idea of what players I want to bring in and certain players will be leaving, the sad thing about it is that before I had even accepted the job I was losing players. It saddened me because I thought they would want to work with me see what I am about, then they could do what they need to do.”
