CN: Lee, after the highs of Tuesday night and a resounding win, to a last-minute penalty conceded today, you must be absolutely gutted.
LA: Obviously now, yes. I think we're going to look back on it in probably not a few hours, probably tomorrow morning now.
I think we'll be chuffed to bits with the players and how we performed today, up against it with bodies, injuries, and illness. We've got two fit subs, you've got Skipper there playing with flu, can't hear anything out of either ear.
Before the game we probably would have taken a point, but obviously with the way it pans out and with 94.5 minutes on the clock and they score an equaliser from a pen, which the ref couldn't wait to give, obviously we're bitterly disappointed.
I think it was an even game in terms of balance of play. We've got in behind them three times in the first half, and we should definitely score two of them. We didn't score, came in at half-time.
It was the same old story where I've said Tuesday night we took our chances; it was a case of we're playing well enough. Again, we looked fairly assured at the back, we've got to take one of these chances and then I think that's a brilliant goal. Jack stands it up, Evo a good header, clock's eking away and 95th minute they put a bit of a nothing ball into the box.
KP shouldn't come for that, it's too flat. And then obviously he's given hand ball when his arm's down by Jack's side. Disappointed with it in the end, but in terms of fight, application, desire, all the buzzwords you want to use as a manager, in abundance there again from the players.
We'd have taken four points from the last two games with the players we've got available. It's one more closer to getting Grats fully fit. Shaw is looking sharper now, Diego up front is looking sharper now, everyone seems to be getting to where we want them to be.
We're one game closer to getting Jordan Fankwe back, I think he's got one more league game and then all of a sudden in two weeks' time I think we'll look pretty healthy. We've just rueing that one because we've had... I don't know, Sascha will be gutted with that. 93rd, 94th minute, we fizzed it, he took a great touch, his first touch was perfect.
I don't know if it bobbled on him or what, but we put the game to bed 2-0 there and the penalty at the end probably doesn't happen anyway and if it does we'll still win the game 2-1.
But listen, I thought he was sharp when he came on as well so I don't want to stand here and criticise anybody, but it was a big moment that would have won us the game. But we have to lick our wounds there because it's still a point in the right direction against a very, very good side who, listen, have got ex-Premier League players in that team.
So, yes, proud of our boys again today.
CN: After Tuesday we homed in specifically on Kev and how good we look going forward. Today Matty Bowman picking up the Man of the Match award, Jack Broadhead as well,
Dave in the press box compared him to Franz Beckenbauer in the first half and KP as well with some good saves on the difficult pitch.
You must be delighted with how we defended today.
LA: Yes, listen, I say it's difficult because it's two minutes after we've just let in a sickener. But I did say it's Jack at half-time; I think his illness has made him better on the ball because he looked comfortable, didn't he? And he plays some good passes.
And I think, listen, loads of good things about today. I thought Liam's hold-up play was really good today. We found his feet a lot, punching the ball through the middle of the pitch, which we haven't done enough of.
I don't think we were too eager to go too big today, even though the pitch was the pitch. I'm not blaming the groundsmen, it's tough at this time of year with all the rain and everything. But obviously the second half it's cut up massively and I still thought we were willing to play.
But we stretched him in behind a lot and Liam gets in first half and if he goes across his man, he brings him down, probably a red card. Instead, he goes on his left foot, and he should go across goal. It's little bits and I think the lads are frustrated with themselves as much as anything else because we get him behind there and we should have a penalty on Liam.
I shouldn't be having a go at Liam for being too honest but if he goes down there, he gets it. But again, the referee decided that that wasn't enough but then he gives real cheap ones all over the park in midfield. So, they have to understand our frustrations there.
We think that's one that's got away from us because good side they are and that's four points we've taken from them, but it should have been six.
