Yes, I think you file that one away under the job done box, nothing spectacular, nothing special, didn't play particularly well, but like you say, just did enough, got the job done.
Against a plucky side, they're not a bad outfit, they stuck to the task and obviously when they've gone down to ten men, I wouldn't even say it made life easier for us because at that point they sit behind the ball and you've got to find a way through.
I'd stay patient, I just thought first half we'd just made really poor decisions. Again, chances, I said the same Saturday, chances to square across the box, we turn it down, trying to flash crosses in with our weaker foot that are flying over the bar, just loads of things I wasn't happy with.
We wanted to stretch them and keep the width, but we weren't, we were running inside, so at half-time there was probably more to do than I wanted to in terms of tactics and shape and stuff.
Then second half we'd come out and scored within 45 seconds from doing exactly what we said. So, yeah, ups and downs in that game, bits I'm happy with. Obviously, the main thing was to get through, but probably more important than that was coming through unscathed injury-wise.
These cup games sometimes come at the wrong time, don't they? But look, we wanted to win the game, not just for the supporters, obviously keep our run going.
What we didn't want in the message before the game was, we're coming into this on the back of three wins, you don't want to have a drab, poor performance tonight, not get the result for whatever reason, then feel like you can go and bounce back to top gear on Saturday. So, yeah, job done in the hat and some really good performance in there as well.
Nice for a couple of lads to get goals, but yeah, we've still got two or three more gears on the show tonight. (Regarding Bedworth on Saturday) I don't think (I have a selection headache). I mean, Rhodesy obviously came out of the team tonight because we need to keep him fit.
We don't want to risk Rhodesy tonight, such an important player. Keenan's unavailable tonight, having a great time in Disneyland. So, them two are sort of, I wouldn't say forced in Rhodesy’s situation, but certainly Keenan's.
That keeps them fresh though. Lewis has been nursing a knee knock since the Rugby FA Trophy game, so it gives him another bit of time. Rhodesy and Keenan will start Saturday, be our usual back four with KP in goal.
So, I think we're back to full strength. Obviously, bar Draper who is still a long way away, but numbers-wise, we look okay at the minute. I think the team that played Saturday, there won't be many changes to that for next week.
But, if you say headaches, the squad's there for a reason. We have to trust the 16 and at any point, they've got to be ready. And the lads that came in tonight, I thought there's some decent performance in there, bits that they need to work on, but that's the same for everybody.
So, yeah, we just rest up now and prepare. Saturday was obviously always going to be the more important game in our minds. So, tonight's job done.
Really good to see a massive crowd there as well. This club's got legs in terms of how far it can go and how many people we can get down here. Our home record this season has been exceptional.
It wasn't quite as good last year. We were almost a bit away from home, but here we've been solid. So, hopefully, we've seen some performances and a bit of excitement and loads of goals, which they have.
So, keep coming and hopefully keep our numbers growing.
