Manager's Assessment - Bridlington Town

'I just want to give them massive credit because I think probably before the Stocksbridge game, I think people wrote us off a little bit'

Yes, I'm really pleased with the boys. I just want to give them massive credit because I think probably before the Stocksbridge game, I think people wrote us off a little bit.

We'd been on that bad run of, I say bad run, of what was it, eight draws in nine. We fell off the pace and sort of from nowhere we turned it round and won four out of the last five to make sure we got there. So, massive credit to the boys.

Me and Matt (were) preparing, we put the game plans together, we sent in the PowerPoints, but obviously going over the white line and doing it is down to them.

So, well done to the lads and that's the squad. That's not just the lads on the starting eleven, it's the lads that are on the bench making an impact and it's the lads that haven't even been here today because they've not made the squad entirely, it's been a group effort to get there.

I just had said to players in the dressing room, we've sort of ticked off Objective 1 if you like. That was before a ball was kicked, so it's aiming for the play-offs. We've got in there now in a gruelling season, forty-two games in this league, it's really tough.

So, a big well done to everybody, but now we've turned it into cup football, and we've got to try and go Tuesday now, rest up and see if we can hit Stocksbridge.

They obviously beat us at their place, comfortably, 3-0, we beat them at our place, 3-0, it's one of those games where we nip and tuck, two good teams, it's going to be a case of who's better on the night, you might need a bit of luck, but we're going to go there full of confidence after today.

But we know what we're up against, I just thought there, the last couple of games what we've done is, taking the Cleethorpes game out, we've managed to grind results out where we're not at our best.

I don't think we were great today, first half I don't think we were good at all, but against the wind again, we've nicked a goal at a good time again, and despite not being great, I don't think KP's made a save.

In the second half I thought we were much better, great goal from Watto, had a real impact on the game really, stretched them a lot more.

I thought Janai was really good, I think Watto's had another 1v1, Jaanai could have had a penalty, and then Jaanai's had another 1v1 himself, so on another day you hit four there, but we were happy with a clean sheet, that's what we wanted

We felt we’d score, and kept it tight, and like you say, objective one ticked off, we're in the hat now, and we're turning to cup football, and can we go and do something special.?
