Manager's Assessment - Emley

'We didn't need to be good second half, we just needed to manage the game and that's what we did'

Yes, of course we are (over the moon with the result), it was a really, really good performance, professional.

Started like house on fire, got the two goals up. We didn't need to be good second half, we just needed to manage the game and that's what we did. We didn't create a load second half, but we equally didn't really look like conceding.

I think other than set pieces and a few direct balls into the box, I don't really think we've tested KP. But yes, 1-11 again and the subs who came on, another really, really good performance.

I thought KP was great today, coming and claiming everything. Our two centre-halves have been rock solid all season but they've got two big lads up there, you know, the 10's (Lawrence) is a big lad and nine (Curtis) obviously competes.

I thought our back two absolutely dominated in terms of aerial power. Won every first contact, organised well, obviously well marshalled by Keenan in that left back (position) and Larell slotted in at right back and did really well too.

(He was) up against Birchill who's probably one of the best wingers in the league; kept him fairly quiet which we were pleased with. And then the other end, I thought Bastos again in the first 45 minutes was too much for them. The left back I think got dragged at half-time, I wasn't surprised, and we felt if we can keep exposing that we'd keep getting in.

Second half, again we got caught in two-minds because they started to commit a few more bodies forward, left back started to push on and we got caught between do we high press or do we sit in.

We probably got out a little bit too easy second half which is the only thing really to come out of it in terms of negatives and something that we'll have a quick chat about and rectify moving forward. But we've done it again where we scored at good times, where we've been on top and again that first half performance, I think warranted us going on to win the game.

Listen, you never know what you're going to get do you? Sometimes you rather play mid-table sides who've got nothing to play for. They'll be flying next week, they've won the league, fair play to them, most consistent and best team by a mile so well done to Cleethorpes first and foremost.

But we go there and listen, on our day we can beat anybody. We just marked ourselves in there, no team's done a double over us and Cleethorpes are the only ones that can now. So, we've got to make sure we go there on the road to a tough place to go but they might rotate, they might go full tilt, you just don't know.

But for me we don't worry about other teams, we'll prepare for them, we'll go as though they're going to be the best version of themselves and can we go and get another result. We came into this run of the running of five games if you like where we knew we were playing the best teams in the league. We've got two of them out of the way with two wins, it's a great week for us if you like.

Prepare again Tuesday and then listen, it's Saturday, Monday and it won't be long before it's all decided so we've got to keep our foot down. We've still done nothing yet, you can't get carried away. The gap to play-offs was three points before today, we've won and it's still three points.

Obviously, a couple of teams have dropped further off the pace, but we can't rest on our laurels now. Time to put the foot down and go again next Saturday.
