Yes (it was a fair point in the end), an end-to-end game, and two what I thought were really good teams on the day. We've not been in great form at home, but we know when we come away, we're a different proposition.
I actually thought we looked really, really good today. Those first two goals, especially that second goal you see at any level, you'd be happy with it. Draper's flicked it wide, Tav's got his man, Kev's on the overlap, slid it across the box, Greavsie has finished it.
It's a quality, quality goal. Our sort of disappointment there is that we obviously conceded just the kick before half-time. It’s a bad time to let a goal in.
I think if we get in at 2-0, we can set ourselves up again. But obviously, with the results we've had recently, I think that goal rocked us a little bit. It's all right saying, don't let it rock you, but when your confidence is a little bit low, which it is a little bit low at the minute, that goal did rock us.
Then we conceded straight after half-time, and we just switched off for a second. But they're a very good team. Before today, I think they scored 10 goals more than anybody else in the league.
They scored 73 in 30 games. It's one of those sides, they put teams at the sword here. So, for us to stand up there, and the character we showed when it went to 2-0, it's easy to crumble then.
Then we go and get the next goal, and you think, all right, OK. And then obviously, we conceded probably another one that we're disappointed with. But again, at the end, I think on balance of chances, we had enough to win the game.
I think they put a bit of pressure in the box in the last 10 minutes, with corners and things, I don't really think they had much clear-cut. We probably had two or three clear-cut to win it.
So, we're disappointed not to win. But we took a point before the game, especially with the positions that both clubs are in, in terms of league spots. It was important we didn't lose today, so I'm pleased with that.
I thought we looked electric. I honestly did. We had a bit of everything today, and we looked good on the break in wide areas.
But the two big lads up front win 60-70 per cent of the balls in there and they are good into feet. I thought Jezza was class. I thought he was really good and he took his goal well. And I think Tav was man of the match. The work he got through, I think both full backs struggled to cope with him.
He has contributed massively. And I've said all along, I think sometimes it's easy to get down when you're on a little bit of a poor run. But there's a fine line between excuses and reasons in football.
There's no doubt, if we had Draper in the last six or seven games, we'd probably be five or six points better off. That's just the nature of the beast. But we keep going.
It's a good point for us. We've got a tough week now. We're travelling to Ponty on Tuesday, and there's Consett next week.
But if we get performances like that, you get no complaints from me. And I've said that to the players, we can take losing games. We're a Step 4 football club. We can't win every week.
What I want from every player in that dressing room, and what all the fans want to see, is 110 per cent commitment for the badge. And we got that today. And win, lose or draw, we can take that on the chin.
But the desire, the work ethic. I just have to praise the two central midfielders, because I've been the first one to dig out our midfield for not getting about the pitch enough.
And funnily enough, you go 4-4-2, give them a bit more responsibility, and all of a sudden, they take it and they're covering more distance.
They looked a good pair in there. So, we're happy with a lot of that. This is a really tough place to come, and we take the point and move on.
