Manager's Assessment-Bedworth United

'I think point’s a fair result. It's another point in the right direction, however you look at it.'

It's literally never an easy game. Coming here, regardless of the league positions, 4G pitch, windy day, a team that's scrapping for everything.

I always find it tough coming here. And I thought we started quite bright actually. For the first 10 or 15 minutes, we were well on top in the ascendancy.

Obviously, a real mix-up for their goal between Evo and Keenan. Just didn't deal with that first ball and then they've got the free kick and with wind behind. Smashed it, central area, got a little flick on it and it's past KP.

So, that then sets us back a little bit and we've started to go ragged, give the ball away a lot in midfield. And I just think we tried to overplay a little bit at times in the first half. You know, I think when you are on a 4G pitch, lads seemed to, I don't want to say not stick to the game plan as such, but, you know, our centre halves are split and trying to get a little bit more.

I'm saying, look, KP, put it on their weakest full-back when they're off the pitch. And at half-time, that was the message.

We were a bit more kick and rush second half. It's not always pretty, but sometimes you've got to be effective. And, you know, Taguey scored a worldy, really good goal to get us back in it.

But we've probably missed the easier chances today. But I think point’s a fair result. It's another point in the right direction, however you look at it.

And whoever it's against, it's another point on the board. I think that's five unbeaten in the league with two draws and three wins in there. So, we would have took that five games ago.

Keeps us unbeaten for a little bit longer. And now we've got a run of three home games, which we can really go and attack.

(Regarding Kev’s substitution) Yes, listen, Kev's having a good game, but just a certain, we expect a certain level of discipline, I suppose. And Kev chirps at me, which happens in football sometimes.

And I took him off for it and we'll have a chat in a minute. But listen, it's not the first time I've done it. You ask Curt Burrows, I've dragged him off for it before.

I dragged Cam Johnston off a couple of years ago for it. It happens. But, you know, I just think we work too hard, me and Wayney, here at this club, not just on a match day, but round the clock, 24-7.

You put everything into this job and, you know, we've obviously got certain levels of standards of behaviour that we'd expect. And today they weren't quite met. So, yes, Kev has changed for Fenton.

I thought Fenton did well when he came on. But, yes, look, at the end of the day, we'll move on from that, me, and Kev. I've known Kev long enough, and we'll have a little cuddle in a minute, hopefully, and it'll all be good.

But, yes, bigger picture is we're still doing OK. I think Carlton won again today, so they're setting a pace that's very difficult to maintain. And now, you know, it's just about game at a time.

Can we keep putting points on the board and just see where we go?
