Margetts, who netted 22 goals for the Nailers in all competitions this season made a shock transfer request at the weekend, following the home defeat against Stamford.
Following the request, the club decided that Margetts should be allowed to move on as the player made it clear that he saw his future away from the Raygar Stadium.
The club subsequently received a formal approach from Stamford and the player has made the move to the Lincolnshire club for an undisclosed fee.
Nailers’ chairman, Ian Woodward, whilst expressing his disappointment with the way in which the move unfolded, has confirmed that the financial proceeds from the transfer will be reinvested into the playing squad to strengthen the club’s push towards the promotion play-offs.
Whilst disappointed to see Margetts leave, the club nevertheless thanks him for his superb contribution to the club’s on-field success this season and wishes him every success going forward.
