First up is Kevin Bastos whose goal scoring exploits for Loughborough made him a sought after winger and earned him a move to Basford United last season, and he now rejoins former manager Lee Attenborough at the Raygar Stadium. Kevin describes himself as a pacey player who likes one to ones and loves to score goals. He was keen to link up with Lee Attenborough after working with him at Loughborough.
In a surprising announcement and one that cements the Nailers strong ambitions for next season; former fans favourite and club legend Phil Watt returns to the Raygar after rejoining from Mickleover Sports. Nailers supporters will remember the central defender scoring the only goal in the play off final in 2014. Phil wants to pass his experience on to the younger lads and help get Belper back to where they want to be.
Experienced goalkeeper Jonathan Hedge was next on the incoming player list and also joins the Nailers from Mickleover. Jonathan has gained vast experience at Halifax Town where he won promotion, and moved on to Tamworth, Cambridge United, Grimsby Town and Telford.
On Friday evening there was a double signing, with former Stamford striker Cameron Johnson joining the Nailers fresh from helping The Daniels to promotion last season. Cameron was impressed with Lee Attenborough and decided that he would join the Nailers as he didn’t want the travelling that would be required in the Central Southern Premier.
Mason Warren has also joined the Belper Town family, again via Mickleover and he is described as a player that can ‘pretty much play anywhere, and play there well’. Mason describes himself as technically good and likes to put a tackle in and play with his his heart on his sleeve.
There are sure to be more players joining the Nailers in the forthcoming weeks.
