Belper United started the new CML South campaign on Saturday, but this season will see a change of home ground as they will be playing their home games at Belper Town’s Christchurch Meadow for the first time.

Saturday saw an away victory at Mickleover RBL 3-0 to start the season, but the first game at the new home is a clash on Wednesday, August 14, against local rivals Holbrook St. Michaels (7.45 pm kick off).

Belper United’s Phill Alcock said: “It’s exciting times for the club, the facilities at Christchurch Meadow are second to none and the pitch is well renowned for being one of the best in the area.

“We are hoping it will give us the springboard needed for success in the league, and we are also in the FA Vase for the first time in the club’s history.

“Everyone at the club now is gearing up for success and it looks like we now have the squad to match those ambitions. We have also a major new sponsorship deal from local global company, Vaillant.

“Last year was the club’s most successful year, the first team finished in third place and the reserves won the League and Cup Double. Wednesday will be a historic day for the club and with it being a local derby hopefully a decent crowd can be expected.”
