The Opposition - History
Evesham United FC was founded shortly after World War II by returning servicemen, replacing the town's earlier club Evesham Town, who had reached the FA Amateur Cup final in 1923.

The new club started life in the Worcester League before switching to the Worcestershire Combination in 1951, winning the league title in their second season in the league. After a second title win in 1955, they switched to the Birmingham & District League where they were coached by former Coventry City captain Charlie Timmins during the 1960–61 season.

In 1962, the club left the Birmingham League and, after a short spell in the Warwickshire League, rejoined the Worcestershire Combination, which was renamed the Midland Combination soon afterwards, and in which they were to remain until 1992. During this time, they claimed three more league titles, after the last of which they stepped up to the Southern League.

In the 2004–05 season, former Coventry City player David Busst led them to promotion to the Premier Division, but the club was relegated straight back down after just one season.

In 2008, the club reached the FA Cup first round for the first time. They eventually lost 2–0 away to Torquay United. Earlier in the competition, they defeated Rushden and Diamonds of the Conference 2–0 with a brace from Danny Scheppel.

The Opposition - FA Cup History
Evesham have reached the First Round Proper of the FA Cup on one occasion.
Back in the 2008/09 season, they defeated Leamington, Nuneaton Town (replay), Chasetown and Rushden & Diamonds and got drawn away to Torquay United. The Gulls came out on top with a 2-0 win in front of 2,275 fans at Plainmoor.
They have also got as far as the Fourth Qualifying Round on four occasions, including the season prior to their run to the First Round. On this occasion, they were narrowly defeated by Halifax Town in a replay.
Their most recent visit to that round was 2014-15 when they lost 2-1 to Bromley.
There are four further seasons where they have been eliminated at the Third Qualifying Round.
Last season's campaign was a bit of a goal fest. They opened in the First Qualifying Round with a 5-2 win over Bromsgrove Sporting (who had eliminated Belper the season before), then after a 3-3 draw came out on top against Racing Club Warwick in a replay.
Their run to Wembley was ended by AFC Telford United in the Third Qualifying Round, 4-1 the score.

The Opposition - This Season
The Robins opened their campaign with a 4-2 win at Basingstoke Town, aided by a Kai Churchley hat trick but then suffered a 4-0 defeat at home to Frome Town.
They bounced back with a comfortable victory over Chichester City before suffering back to back defeats.
Bank Holiday Monday saw a 2-1 win away to Gloucester City in front of over 1,200 spectators, with Gloucester seeing their goalkeeper sent off 19 minutes in.
While their 14 goals conceded is the second highest in the division, their away record is bettered only by league leaders Uxbridge.

The Nailers
Belper have had a challenging start to the season.
Successive 0-0 draws - the first time that had occurred for 25 years - were followed by a defeat to Coventry United but three points were finally secured at home to Boldmere St. Michaels.
That remains our last league victory, with a comfortable FA Cup win at Rugby Town the only success since.
Performance levels in the defeats to Sutton Coldfield Town and Wellingborough Town cannot be faulted but manager Lee Attenborough was unhappy with the fall-off during Monday's defeat at Basford United, a third successive reversal.
