This game had been rescheduled due to the serious injury sustained by Jakub Niemczyk the previous Saturday, which caused the game to be abandoned after 35 minutes.

Despite the Nailers undoubtedly controlling the first half, it was Dynamo who broke the deadlock in the final minute of the first half through John King.

That goal seemed to give Shepshed the confidence that they could go and secure the three points in the second half.

That’s exactly what happened with the Dynamo scoring in both the 78th and 90th minute to secure an impressive win over the high-flying Nailers.

Coming into this fixture Belper sat a staggering nine places above Shepshed in the league table which meant a Nailers win was expected, as was the case when these two sides met earlier in the season, with Belper running away 4-1 victors on that occasion.

Unsurprisingly it was the Nailers who started the stronger of the two sides with stand-in captain Tom Wilson causing the Dynamo’s defence several problems in the opening three minutes of the match alone.

In the second minute, Sam Muggleton launched one of his trademark long throw-ins deep into the Shepshed half where Wilson flicked the ball onto Brodie Litchfield whose attempt at goal was acrobatically saved by the out-rushing Brandon Ganley in the Dynamo goal.

The Nailers continued to bombard the Shepshed penalty area with long balls throughout the first half and one in particular nearly lead to a goal in the 32nd minute after Derry Robson lofted a loose ball deep inside the Dynamo half.

Todd Jordan proceeded to flick the ball onto Nathan Curtis who fired his shot low and hard across goal but Ganley was in fine form and pushed the ball away from danger.

Belper had the ball in the back of the net in 35th minute after another long pass was directed towards Wilson who flicked the ball onto Alex Peterson who calmly volleyed his shot into the bottom right corner.

But, unfortunately for the Nailers Wilson was deemed to be in an offside position when the original ball was played by Litchfield.

In the first half it seemed Shepshed’s only attacking threat came from set pieces and that’s where their opening goal eminated; Jack McMillan produced a teasing out swinging free-kick to the back post where Toby Ritzema fired the ball back across to King who grateful tapped the ball into the empty net to make it 1-0.

As the second half progressed Belper seemingly became more desperate to get theequaliser, committing more men forward on attacks and leaving them susceptible to Shepshed on the counter.

Shepshed should have got their second goal in the 71st minute of the game after a Reece Morris led counter attack resulted in the ball being backheeled to Ritzema on the edge of the box but despite being unchallenged, Ritzema rushed his shot and curled it wide of the target.

In the 78th minute, Dynamo had another counterattack and punished Belper this time.

Substitute Riece Bertram failed to clear his lines as Dempsey Arlott-John blocked his attempted clearance, and the forward proceeded to volley the ball first time into the bottom right corner leaving Daniel Moore with no chance in the Belper goal.

After the second strike the Nailers absolutely bombarded the Dynamos’ goal with countless long balls and long throw-ins which caused absolute chaos inside the penalty area for the final ten minutes.

And in the 86th minute Belper finally broke their duck after Muggleton launched a throw deep to the back post where substitute Jacob Edge-Lucas squared the ball across goal to Peterson who tapped the ball home from close range.

Unfortunately, Belper’s hopes of snatching a late draw was taken away from them in the 90th minute after Arlott-John broke through the Belper back line and had the whole half to himself.

He proceeded to square the ball across to Morris who had an open goal and of course the winger smashed the ball into the open net scoring Shepshed’s third of the night.
