It was truly the proverbial game of two halves with Belper dominating the first half but the hosts coming out much stronger following their half-time team talk.
New signing Tavonga Kuleya took his place on the left wing and would go on to impress on debut while Kelan Swales and Nat Crofts dropped to the bench with Terry Atem; all five subs would be used in the second half.
Belper started brightly and launched several dangerous attacks in the early stages, with a lot of it going through Kaleya who showed a good turn of pace and two good feet.
However in terms of chances the first one didn't arrive until the 14th minute when Kuleya's long range shot ended up drifting wide.
Dan Coupland's through-ball found Sam Barker but a great challenge from Nailers skipper Jack Broadhead kept things goalless.
Moments later Barker's pass picked out Max Bauer but goalkeeper Kieran Preston came out to narrow the angle and the ball went out for a goal-kick.
A good mini-spell for the hosts continued with Charlie Marshall finishing from close range on 28 minutes but being denied by the offside flag.
Three minutes later they were punished by a great goal from Belper. A good ball out to the right found Ben Rhodes on the overlap and his excellent cross found the head of Luke Rawson who put the Nailers ahead.
In the 37th minute Mason Warren's shot went just wide after a Keaton August cross was only half-cleared.
In the 42nd minute Garforth were level. Bauer was played in by Barker and ran on to finish nicely past Preston.
Rawson fired a shot at Flatters as Belper finished the half strongly and on reflection had edged the first 45 minutes.
Early in the second half a sliced kick by Jordan Emery - not helped by the below par playing surface - nearly looped in but Flatters came to the rescue.
On 52 minutes Warren fired in a free-kick from the left and Rawson won the header but again Flatters made the save.
A minute later Marshall tried a chip at the other end but it went just wide of the post.
With just over 20 minutes remaining a Garforth free-kick on the left was headed just off target by Jamie Barkway.
Three minutes from time substitute Jay Davis got the ball back from a corner and fizzed in a shot which clipped the crossbar and went over and in injury time Bauer played in Matt Antcliff but his low shot was saved.
All in all a fair result and the Nailers remain in 3rd place, five points clear of Dunston but two points adrift of leaders Cleethorpes Town.
