The Opposition - History

Coleshill Town were founded in 1885 as Coleshill & District, playing their first match that November against Acocks Green. Renamed Coleshill Town, they played mainly friendlies until joining the Birmingham Youth & Old Boys League in 1906. After short spells in other leagues, they won the Coleshill Charity Cup and Tamworth Nursing Cup in 1909–10, then joined the Trent Valley League in 1912, finishing runners-up and winning the Chapel End Cup.

Reforming after World War I as Coleshill United, they joined the Sutton & District League and won Division One in 1952–53 and 1954–55. They rejoined the Birmingham Youth & Old Boys League in 1956, earned promotion to the Mercian Division, and later entered the Worcestershire Combination (renamed the Midland Combination) in 1967.

After winning Division Two in 1969–70 but being denied promotion, the club moved to Pack Meadow in 1974 and went up a year later. They won the Walsall Senior Cup in 1982–83 and were Premier Division runners-up in 1983–84, staying in the top flight until relegation in 2000, before bouncing back the next season.

Coleshill won the Premier Division in 2007–08 to reach the Midland Alliance. Joining the new Midland League in 2014, they twice finished runners-up and reached the FA Vase semi-finals in 2016–17. Promotion to the Southern League followed in 2018. After moving to the Northern Premier League Division One Midlands in 2021, they placed fifth in 2022–23, losing to Halesowen Town in the play-off semi-finals.

The Opposition - This Season
The Colemen won three out of their first four this season in all competitions and actually made it as far as the Second Qualifying Round in the FA Cup before a heavy defeat at home to Hednesford Town.
This match was one of five successive home matches which saw a total of 23 goals.
Their form has dropped away in the last few weeks, with one win recorded in their last six matches although the Hednesford match remains the only one in which they have failed to score so far this season.

The Nailers
After an indifferent pre-season, Belper started well in the NPL with three victories in their first four matches but this early spell also saw an exit from the FA Cup at the first hurdle.
A good point was secured on Bank Holiday Monday at Basford and it was another draw against Rugby Town back at the Raygar.
The Nailers battled past Newcastle Town in the FA Trophy before defeating Bedworth United.
Rugby Town ended the FA Trophy run at the Second Qualifying Round stage but it was back to winning ways against Wellingborough Town and Coventry Sphinx.
Tuesday night saw a first league defeat of the season as Carlton Town won at Belper.
Six players have appeared in every match so far. Ioan Evans is the only player to have played every single minute of the season to date.
Kevin Bastos leads the goalscoring charts with six, while Jacob Fenton and Ben Rhodes have three each. Jonathan Wafula has two to his name and a further six players have one goal apiece.

Head to Head
The two sides have only met twice, in Belper's promotion season of 2021/22.
Coleshill won 2-0 at the Raygar Stadium in mid-September but the return fixture saw a brace of goals from Jack Gibson on his debut help the Nailers win after they had gone behind to a penalty.

Overall, from a Belper perspective the record reads: P 2 W 1 D 0 L 1 F 2 A 3.

The return fixture from today is scheduled for Saturday, 31st January 2026.

Full team news will be announced around 2:15pm.

Permutations
While Belper remain top after Tuesday, defeat means they will need to get back to winning ways to guarantee they stay there come 4:45.
Five teams can take top spot if the Nailers fail to win, although those on 18 points would need a goal difference swing as well.
Coleshill start the day in the bottom three but the table is very congested and a win could take them as high as 13th.
If they draw or are defeated, they could end the day bottom of the table.
