The Opposition - History
Bedworth United’s roots lie in several incarnations of Bedworth Town, first founded in 1895 and briefly active in the Nuneaton & District League before folding in 1900. The name was revived in 1905 and again in 1925, with the club spending short periods in local leagues and the Central Amateur League before disappearing in the early 1920s and again in 1936.
A new Bedworth Town emerged in 1947, joining the Birmingham Combination and winning consecutive titles in 1948–49 and 1949–50. They later entered the Birmingham & District League (renamed the West Midlands (Regional) League), but after years of poor finishes the club folded in 1968. A successor, Bedworth United, immediately took their place in the league.
United moved into the Southern League in 1972, later competing in its Midland and Premier divisions. Relegations followed in 1989 and during later restructurings, but the club earned promotions via play-offs in 2011–12, 2014–15, and 2017–18. Each promotion was followed by relegation the next season. Most recently, after finishing bottom of the Premier South in 2018–19, they returned to Division One Central and were moved to Division One Midlands of the Northern Premier League at the end of 2020–21.

The Nailers
Belper started the season with back to back wins before coming unstuck in a home FA Cup tie against Kidsgrove Athletic.
After this came a six match unbeaten run, ended with another cup defeat, this time an FA Trophy reversal at Rugby Town.
Once again Lee Attenborough got the response he wanted, with back to back NPL wins being secured.
After this however they lost two on the spin before flipping their form back on its head again to defeat Anstey Nomads and AFC Rushden & Diamonds.
A draw at Racing Club Warwick followed before two late Corby Town goals consigned us to defeat on the road.
That was the last time Belper tasted defeat, with a draw and three recent wins and clean sheets following it.
Last weekend a Jacob Gratton penalty and thunderbolt finish from James Tague secured the points at Bourne Town.
Tuesday night saw the Nailers progress to the quarter-finals of the Derbyshire Senior Cup with 4-2 home win over Belper United.
Four players can still lay claim to have appeared in every match so far.
Goals wise, Kevin Bastos leads the way with seven while Jacob Gratton and Liam Moran are one behind on six. Jacob Fenton has five. Defenders Jack Broadhead and Ben Rhodes sit on four goals apiece and James Tague & Jonathan Wafula have netted three times each. A further four players have one goal each.
Head to Head
The two sides have met on 12 previous occasions.
The first two were FA Cup ties in 1968, with the Greenbacks eliminating the Nailers in a replay.
Fast forward to 1980 and this time it was the FA Trophy in which Bedworth came out on top, winning 2-0 at Christchurch Meadow.
There were no further meetings until the 2013/14 season when Jon Froggatt scored four goals in a 6-2 home win then netted again as victory was secured in the reverse fixture.
Bedworth won the next one 3-2 in March 2017 and this remains their last win in the fixture, with Belper unbeaten in the last six, winning five of them including 5-0 at home in October 2021.

Permutations
Carlton remain six points clear at the top on level games so the Nailers cannot catch them yet.
While Basford are three points back, their goal difference is 11 lower so Belper should stay where they are no matter the result.
For Bedworth, it is the same situation - they are six points adrift of 21st placed Boldmere St. Michaels.
