The Opposition - History
St Neots Town FC was formed in 1879 (originally “St Neots”) and quickly found success, winning the Huntingdonshire Senior Cup in 1888–89 and several times more before 1900. They played in local leagues, achieving a double in 1901–02. Renamed St Neots & District in 1924, they later joined the South Midlands League, winning it in 1932–33, and entered the United Counties League in 1936. After WWII, they were founding members of the Metropolitan League, winning the league and cup double in 1949–50.

The club was renamed St Neots Town in 1957. They rejoined the UCL in 1967, winning the league and league cup, and made their best FA Cup run in 1966–67, reaching the first round. After league changes and fluctuating fortunes, the club was disbanded in 1988 due to financial issues but was reformed in 1990 and re-entered senior football in 1994, winning the UCL Division One at their first attempt.

Ambition grew in 2009 with high-profile signings, including ex-Premier League players. Under manager Dennis Greene, they won the UCL Premier Division in 2010–11 and then the Southern League Division One Central in 2011–12. A turbulent period followed with frequent managerial changes. Despite instability, they won the 2013–14 Hunts Senior and Southern League Cups. In 2015, club ownership passed from chairman Mike Kearns to his son, Lee.

The Opposition - This Season
The Saints started the season with a spectacular 7-1 win over Great Yarmouth Town in the FA Cup.
However they found life at Step 4 tough in the early stages, opening with defeat at home to the Nailers before a loss at Corby Town four days later.
They picked up their first league victory at Coleshill Town and backed it up by defeating Wellingborough Town but then lost their next two.
Inconsistency continued to be an issue as they lost two, then won two, then lost two, then won two again!
The final win in that sequence - at Sutton Coldfield Town on 11th October remains their last and they come into the match today without a victory in eight matches.

The Nailers
Belper started the season with back to back wins before coming unstuck in a home FA Cup tie against Kidsgrove Athletic.
After this came a six match unbeaten run, ended with another cup defeat, this time an FA Trophy reversal at Rugby Town.
Once again Lee Attenborough got the response he wanted, with back to back NPL wins being secured.
After this however they lost two on the spin before flipping their form back on its head again to defeat Anstey Nomads and AFC Rushden & Diamonds.
A draw at Racing Club Warwick followed before two late Corby Town goals consigned us to defeat on the road.
That was the last time Belper tasted defeat, with five wins and three draws since in all competitions.
A Jacob Gratton penalty and thunderbolt finish from James Tague secured the points at Bourne Town.
The following Tuesday saw the Nailers progress to the quarter-finals of the Derbyshire Senior Cup with 4-2 home win over Belper United while four days later Tague was on the scoresheet again as we shared the points at Bedworth United.
The next match was another draw at home to Shepshed Dynamo but we got back to winning ways last weekend, Curtis Burrows with the only goal as we saw off Coventry Sphinx.
Four players can still lay claim to have appeared in every match so far.
Goals wise, Kevin Bastos leads the way with seven while Jacob Gratton and Liam Moran are one behind on six. Jacob Fenton has five. Defenders Jack Broadhead and Ben Rhodes sit on four goals along with James Tague. Jonathan Wafula has netted three times and Curtis Burrows twice. A further three players have one goal each.

Head to Head
The only meeting between the sides to date came on the opening day of this season on a warm day in Cambridgeshire.
A Kevin Bastos brace either side of a Ben Rhodes goal secured the points for Belper.

Permutations
The Nailers will finish the day in 2nd place no matter the result, being seven points behind Carlton Town (who also have a game in hand) but four clear of Basford United.
The Saints are in 20th but could climb to 18th with a win or one place with a draw depending on other results.
Defeat could see them slip to 21st if Boldmere St. Michaels win their match.
