The Nailers fielded an unchanged line up as they attempted to make amends for their 2-0 defeat at Coleshill back in early October.
The Colemen arrived in fifth place in the NPL Midland division and as such presented the Nailers with tricky opposition at the Raygar Stadium.
Belper had the better of the first half and all that was lacking was a second or third goal that would have more than likely given the Nailers maximum points.
It could have been a poor start after Preston’s clearance inside the first minute fell to Rowe who returned the ball immediately, however Preston redeemed himself with a fine one handed save.
Bastos was on fire particularly in the first half and almost immediately ghosted past three defenders before passing to Moran whose attempt was saved by Belford in the visitors’ goal.
Gratton’s left footed shot went just the wrong side of the post in the 8th minute, then another exciting run from Bastos ended with a shot that fizzed past the far post.
Bastos was there again on 18 minutes after bursting through and hitting his shot against the advancing ‘keeper, then Belford thwarted Moran when his shot was saved in the 21st minute.
Finally, the Nailers got what they deserved on 29 minutes when Bastos’ immaculate through ball sent De Girolamo away to round the ‘keeper for a well taken goal.
Belper couldn’t create another opportunity up until the break and it was a different story as the teams kicked off for the second half.
The Colemen were more business like from the off although there was time for Burrows to volley wide, then visitors drew level when Usher-Shipway had plenty of time to pick his spot and fire past Preston on the hour mark.
Bastos wasn’t as prominent as he had been in the first half, but in the 65th minute his effort came back off a defender and Moran’s follow up shot was well saved.
Wafula made a couple of heading attempts from dead ball situations that missed the target, and the arrival of Coleshill substitutes late in the game threatened to spoil the afternoon for a large crowd.
McSkeane and Gyosi had opportunities to win the game for the visitors, but Preston denied McSkeane with a fine save and Gyosi fired over much to the relief of the Nailers.
A point apiece was just about the right outcome.
