It was the perfect start for the home side who found themselves ahead in only the 6th minute of the game.
It all came from Prince Mancinelli who picked up a loose ball in the final third, he proceeded to thread the ball through to Jonathon Margetts who weaved his way into the box, and proceeded to fire a fierce low driven shot underneath the keeper to score his 10th goal of the season.
The Nailers continued to dominate the early periods of the game and Alex Peterson was unlucky not to find his name on the score sheet.
The attacker found himself coming close on several occasions. The best chance to double the Nailers lead came in the 11th minute after Craig Nelthorpe produced some quick footwork on the wing before he chipped a cross to the back post, where Peterson could only glance his header wide of the target.
Jake Gosling impressed for the away side with his silky skills and produced the Lions' only attempt of the half in the 45th minute, after he dangerously cut into the left side of the Belper box before firing his shot well over the bar.
Ollie Battersby was finally tested in the 51st minute when an extremely well worked short corner from Sporting gave Carlo Franco a free shot inside Belper six yard box, but thankfully for the hosts he could only fire his attempt straight at the Grimsby Town loanee.
Belper, and particularly Margetts, pressed forward in search of a second goal but the striker was denied on several occasions in the second half.
The best chance came from only two yards out after a deep Riece Bertram cross found the striker unmarked at the back post, but he could only fire the ball over the bar from close in.
This didn’t stop Margetts wanting another goal and he was rewarded for his tenacity in the 64th minute after a lobbed through ball by Peterson perfectly found Margetts who was in on goal.
His first attempt was superbly stopped by Sam Arnold but the striker tapped the ball in on the second time of asking to make it 2-0.
Three minutes later it was a Margetts hat trick. Tom Wilson fired a great cross in from the right wing, where Margetts received the ball on the spin and fired a powerful shot into the bottom left corner for his 12th goal of the season.
Sporting so nearly got a consolation goal in the final minute of the game after substitute Mason Birch drove deep into the Belper box, he proceeded to cut the ball back to James McGrady who could only scuff his shot into the arms of Battersby from close range.
