Belper so nearly had the perfect start in the opening minute of the game after Nathan Curtis produced a brilliant flying volley from the edge of the box which was destined for the top corner, only for Sam Lomax to divert the ball away at the last second.

The Nailers continued to dominate and were awarded a penalty in only the third minute of the game, when Riece Bertram sent a perfectly weighted lofted ball in behind the Greenbacks’ defence for Margetts to chase on to.

The striker managed to round the keeper but was unfairly pulled back resulting in a penalty for the home side.

Captain Danny South stepped up but Lomax atoned for his earlier wrongdoing and produced a heroic save as he quickly got down to his left to push the ball away from danger.

This game was full of life and in the 19th minute a red card was produced for the Bedworth goalkeeper after Margetts seemingly had the whole half to himself; Lomax panicked and handled the ball well outside his area which resulted in his marching orders.

Outfielder Sam Walton bravely accepted the task of being stand in goalkeeper and did himself proud making several fine stops.

One shot he had no chance of saving was one from Alex Peterson in the 41st minute. A great passing move resulted in a fine curled cross from Bertram, which found a flying Peterson at the back post who headed the ball into a practically empty net to make it 1:0.

Prince Mancinelli produced a moment of magic early in the second half when the Nailers were awarded a free kick just outside the right hand side of the area.

The midfielder stepped up and beautifully whipped an unstoppable free kick into the top left corner leaving the stand in goalkeeper absolutely helpless.

Belper continued to dominate and made it 3-0 in the 63rd minute after Josh Woodcock produced some fancy footwork on the right wing, and the fullback dinked a deep cross to the back post where Nathan Curtis rose the highest, and powerfully headed the ball into the Greenbacks’ goal.

Jonathon Margetts made it 4-0 in the 73rd minute after a fine set piece routine by the Nailers allowed Brodie Litchfield to fire a fierce cross into the path of Margetts. He calmly rolled his left footed strike into the bottom right corner of the goal.

The final goal of this fine afternoon was a screamer by substitute Craig Nelthorpe. The winger cut inside from the right wing, on to his deadly left foot and smashed his shot into the bottom right corner, once again leaving the poor goalkeeper with no chance.

This victory sees the Nailers move into 6th place in the Midland Division and on the fringe of the play off zone.
